I think Renegade 2 was just supposed to be set in during/in the RA2 timeline.. It doesn't really mean it fit's logically into the CnC storyline in my opinion.

I agree and I don't even think Renegade (1) fits in with the original C&C time line; it's obvious it has had some of the more childish influence of the creators of Red Alert 2 (Westwood/EA Pacific).
There's also no possible way that RA2 could happen before Tiberian Dawn (or even after Red Alert 1), so the only explanation that makes sence is Ishmael's (someone messing with time again in Tiberian Incursion which creates a new universe in which RA2 happens).

Bittah i don't see why you try to make the RA2 story fit with the CnC story at all, even if just the result of someone messing with the timeline). To me it's just obvious that RA2 had nothing to do with any other CnC and didn't pretend to (other than it's name)

If I'd have to go with an explanation to fit RA2 in C&C, it's Ishmael's, but like you I'd also much rather just ignore RA2's story (just like the story of any other C&C that was released after TS).

I took a look through the Petroglyph forums and found these topics that might help with the mod:
Original intentions for TS
Regarding Scrin
The CNC Storyline
CABAL
These were the most useful ones

Also, CNC Source has mixed their archive of Tiberian Twilight concept archive with their Tiberium Wars acrchive. Go here to look

Quotes from Ishmael, on the links posted above ^^^
I did a blitz on each of topics and brought together to most important ones...We should make the mod follow these as much as possible wink1.gif

QUOTE
QUOTE (popcorn2008 (a fan))
So in TW it is a liquid tiberium explosion that summons the scrin to Earth, "Ichor LQ Detonation". Was this planned from the start?

It was not. It was the scrin rebels that fled with the tacitus that brings the Scrin forces to Earth.

QUOTE (popcorn2008 (a fan))
Now that being said, was the storyline changed from what you guys intended Kane's original goals to be?

It's different than we had planned it, but remember it didn't go through as much scrutiny because we never got to filming stages with it. I don't know how it would have ended up with us, but it was different in the planning stages.

QUOTE
We went back and forth on just where the Tacitus came from, but the translation of it is really the key -- what some may interpret as a warning from it could really be written prophecy or even an instruction manual to other eyes, depending on who is reading it and what they want to get from it.

I'm curious to see where EA goes with the Tacitus now. There's several directions they could take it in from where we had it post TS/FS. Given the C&C3 story, they didn't really expand on its origin one way or another, since again, its message is open to interpretation.
QUOTE
Remember that tablet that Kane had in his palace in Renegade? In a vid at the end of C&C TD during the credits?

It depicts something important, and gives you a clue as to his origins.

QUOTE
Yes, there was a loadout screen where you could choose units to take into battle. This was also planned for C&C3, which we had working in the WW prototype, but that wasn't the direction taken by EA. The drop pods, added in Firestorm, were supposed to be in TS (and customizable before a match) for GDI.
QUOTE
Also, these responses are more in-line for what C&C3 would have contained originally, not TS.
QUOTE (Crasking)

- What did you plan to happen with the forgotten ?

The Scrin didn't account for what effect Tiberium would have on some humans (i.e. the forgotten). They thought it would kill all humans off, but unfortunately, some that were exposed survived and actually began to be able to harness Tiberium's energies themselves. They turned out to be humankind's most powerful weapon against the Scrin, since they could control Tiberium in a way the Scrin could not, making them a huge threat. The forgotten were going to become a full faction in the expansion for the game.

QUOTE (Crashking)
- What did you plan to happen with tiberium and tiberium life forms?

Tiberium had taken over parts of the planet that GDI did not build and run their atmosphere processors near (data from the Tacitus allowed the creation of these processors, which reversed Tiberium's growth). Some areas were more affected by Tiberium than others (Tiberium grew better in moist / warmer climates), and those heavily affected had undergone complete metamorphosis of terrain, flora, and fauna. Species of all forms of life either died off, adapted, or mutated into things that could survive in those areas. Even GDI and Nod would not enter some of the (to use the C&C3 vocab) "red" zones, where Tiberium had completely taken over, as constant ion storms and all kinds of new animal and plant life was very hostile to intruders. Those areas were written off as lost causes.

QUOTE
Ah, CABAL... I remember the day we came up with the acronym. I can still see it on the white-board.

Computer Assisted Bio-organic Artificial Life-form

RE: CABAL's future

Yep, we had plans for him. Without going into any real detail, eventually, he'd re-emerge with a cyborg / machine faction that had its desires set on conquering not just humanity... but the Scrin as well. The creation of CABAL via the Tacitus information and Kane's mind made for a very power-hungry and ruthless entity that sought control above all else.
QUOTE
Kane built CABAL and incorporated pieces of his psyche into the machine while constructing its personality. Ever see the film "Saturn 5"? The robot learned its obsessions and murderous tendencies from the "teacher" it was connected to -- a similar thing happened here. CABAL is an extension of Kane's mind so that Kane would have a completely obedient and cunning ally. Unfortunately, the data from the Tacitus gave CABAL some other desires that allowed him to bend Kane's will and desires....

FWIW, there were 5 eventual factions planned when we were talking about C&C3 it back at WW: GDI, Nod, Scrin (first release), Forgotten (expansion 1), CABAL (expansion 2).

QUOTE
Don't forget that in Firestorm Nod stole an EVA module from GDI once CABAL went rogue on them, so the idea of them having a more malevolent EVA for Nod actually fits the fiction.

I noticed someone mentioning in this topic that EA messed things up by having the [Scrin] hive-minded weirdos that couldn't really rebel as was intended by Westwood, due to their zergish nature (if they are that way indeed).

Whereas I'm no big fan of EA, perhaps they didn't really mess it up as you might think. Perhaps you just aren't looking for the true Scrin in the right place to judge their faults in accordance to Westwood story concepts. Interested in these theories? I'm about to finish posting my theories on how things might actually be (under Sirius), and also it may update the lack of some key info Ishmael granted to us on the Petroglyph forums recently, that hasn't been transferred to here yet, concerning the two main ideas Westwood had behind the tacitus.

I know this post is old, and i also know that this has already been answered but here's my opinion on how the universes are formed

_ Tiberian Sun _ Fire Storm __________________________________
/
/
Tiberian Dawn --- Red Alert ------------------------------- Generals --- Zero Hour --- Something Unimaginable...
\
\
--- Red Alert 2 --- Yuri's Revenge -----------------------------------------

I thought it was something like that, i haven't bothered trying to connect C&C3 because it just isn't a C&C
and i don't know why i tried to include generals, but anyway thats my opinion on how it is. Probably completely wrong due to my knoledge roll.gif

But why did EA stopped with the storyline and maked RA2 - Renegade - Generals -zero hour. doesn't make sense.
End then they launched C&C 3 with the stupid contineus story(and you dont have a Wolwerine Titan or something else they all made new units)., only cool thing is the Scrin

It could be cool if we saw Tiberian Sun in a 3d categorie, like renegade. But Renegade is f*cked up because you have all the old stuff from the old command conquer, and the stupid texture in the game makes it stupid.

According to ex-Westwood members:

Allied victory during Great World War II leads to eruption of First Tiberian War many years after. 30 years after that war, Second Tiberian war erupts. GDI wins. X amount of years after, C&C3 (Tiberian Incursion) occurs, and someone or something does the Einsteins, and creates another parallel universe with Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge.

You know, i think renegade was supposed to be at the same time in the TD universe.

here's what i now think the universes could be like:

Tiberian Dawn----Red Alert----Tiberian Sun----Firestorm----Tiberium Wars----Next Tiberium game.. If there is one
-------A----------------C------------------------------------------------------------
-------A----------------C----------------------------------------Generals----------
Renegade--------Red Alert 2----Red Alert 3----Next RA game.. If there is one

I've tried to include every single C&C game and try to link them all and thats the best i came out with.

C= different universe is formed

A= at the same time

well EA recently said they'd clear up the inconsistencies.. I'm curious to see what they'll do.
I'd be willing to bet it'll end as another empty promise, and another "We did the best we could, blah blah blah"
