First time I've been here for about 6 months. It's pretty sad.
I know I'm not the first one to say this, but everything started to go downhill after the change from Tiberiumsun to Tiberiumweb. Tiberiumsun was great, those really were the hay days of of the community. Then there was that several month downtime back a few years ago, and that's what killed this forum. I feel bad, this community from 2005-2008 was my 'home' on the internet. Coming back here and seeing how empty it is now, makes me feel pretty nostalgic. But not in the good way.

AYE!
Another one has returned. In my visiting days, you hadn't visited in a while.

Well read through this topic. On page 5, Warlord, Wiziwig, and snow93 came back. I guess this topic is where old dead members first post in their return.
*sighs* Many probably wish Grabnar was still around. lol.gif

The reason I hardly post anymore is because everything C&C imo is near death! The last C&C game which will ever be made was a total failure and has left the C&C side of me in ruins... I now only end up venturing onto any C&C forum because of nostalgic feelings.

It's sad to see this place like this, it used to be so great, but because interest in C&C is dying inside me, so is my interest with the forums for it.

.. Sure we can play the older C&C's, but everything that can possibly be done with them has more or less been done.

I have lost interest in C&C. bye2.gif

I'm quite sure that although C&C4 might have been the end of the Tiberium Universe, it won't be the last C&C game.

However I doubt any future C&C games will be as succesful as the oldest ones were (or even as succesful as C&C3 was).

everything that can possibly be done with them has more or less been done.

Ares 0.1 was released, only more ".exe mods" will be released in the future (Ie. Hyper Patch).
In other words, the limits of those old games keep changing and whole new modding possibilities will open up...

Don't forget that later this year Twisted Insurrection (and probably Tiberian Odyssey too in 2011, although the team has said nothing about a release date) will be released; those are the largest TS mods that have been made, and afaik both will also have a campaign. DTA and some other mods get updated from time to time too.

Although I'm not really interested in modding, I enjoy playing the mods others have made (especially in multiplayer, and I still mod the AI for a better multiplayer experience if the mods' AI have something to improve).

I have many ideas most of which are for tiberian sun and I am still interested in modding the game (as much as i like all Big TCs i would love to see a TC covering a compleatly new universe)

In many ways what is needed is support most of the support for TS:BoB dried up hence why not much has happened to it, much of my motivation now to try to compleat it is so i can continue on with newer mods which i can hopefuly keep people interested in.
learning from my mistakes im not even going to announce RA:Best of Beta (whoops tongue.gif) untill ive almost compleated it and most of my TS mod ideas (one of which i have started) which are bigger im going to try to drum up support in secret stock pile assets, basical have the mod news at least a month behind the mod to compensate for any lack of progress, etc

I wouldnt say tiberian sun modding is dead but in many ways it needs research and support. TI and TO are great examples both have done some great things and both have drummed up a lot of support and it is my honest opinion that these mods should be used as a New bench mark, something that people (i know i do) aspire to do as well as or better No longer going back to the old when The mod was TS:Retro (no offence) but so much more can be done with the TS engine (With or with out Hacks or patches like ETS or the HyperPatch).

Websites (Tiberium Web, C&C Comm., etc) just need more active users.

Even the multiplayer for those old CNC games is going away, I won't be surprised when it goes offline...

Back in Mid to late 2006, and even in early 2007, there was about 300 TS players online at a time, and usually around or above 1000 RA2 players. Now, there is only a quarter of that amount, even less at most times. I've been going on very rarely for the past couple years, its not like it used to be. I wish I was as old as my brother was at the time (he is 6 years older than me, now 23), so I could have experienced the older RA2 games (RA2, and before '00) when they were just being released, and in there popular days.

I don't think so. Once people find CNC4 boring/rubbish etc, they will probably find out more about the CNC universe and find TS/RA etc more interesting and fun and play it more.

I don't think XWIS will close the servers any time soon, and new C&C 4/RTS players will probably move to SCII instead of TS/RA etc (although I don't like Starcraft myself, I have to admit that). However we still have lots of older modders and players (C&C3 or older) here.

Right now C&C4 is played less than TW, and I haven't seen any modding interest for C&C4 in the C&C modding communities.

As I said, who knows how many more modding possibilities there are to discover. These discoveries can make TS better. We got so many TS/RA2 mods. More possibilities is likely to spark interest in others.

Above all else, I'm not giving up on C&C for a long time.

CnC1 might get more mods in time wink1.gif

as for the cameos im confused, you do know that in TS the game writes the text on the cameos? (personal i prefer playing with the cameo text off)

and i 2nd your last comment

What do you mean? Everything in C&C1 is more memorable than in TS. Could be that I played C&C1 first...

I remember TS much better than TD, so I think it's that you played C&C1 first.

Cool video by the way, I remember when I launched the RA1 DOS version for the first time and it asked about the sound card.

@Revo:Yes, but I'm saying that I get a happy feeling when I see those blank cameos in XCC. Suddenly the intro music plays in my head and I feel tons of nostalgia lol.gif

@Tore:I would've liked C&C1 better than TS if I played it first. For me I first played RA1, then TS, RA2, Generals, and most recently TD.

THATS IT! furious.gif

Since I can't register at PPM somehow, could some active PPM member bring back some of the old TibWeb members that hang there now?

DaTS (Mr. Moosey), DIAB, DonutArnold, Q45, Tratos, etc.
If someone could do this, PLEASE do not convince Gufu. roll.gif

More active members is all we need.

I had RA1 DOS on a Windows XP and it said nothing about a sound card. Not even an installation. Just the normal RA1 DOS.
Now maybe it would on an older computer say Windows 98, 95?

yea we do need more active members, but sometimes you just can't hold onto the old. Lets not mention the fact that those people have their own lives and their own projects which they are working on and no reason to post here. Give them a reason perhaps. And then maybe one of us will be like 'oh hey you guys should check out this cool work!' but so far i haven't seen any reason for them to check over here. All the new posts are mediocre at best assets and other than that what some would call pointless and time wasting.
Honestly, Gufu would be one of the few people who might actually add sh*t to here if we got him to come over. Sure he isn't the easiest to talk too and he has often times said weird/stupid things, but damn better than a whole bunch of people who can't understand the fact they need to either STFU with their spam about inactivity or create something that's worth an active viewing.
Oh and last of all, all the 'old TibWeb members' have been on PPM for about just as long as they have been here. DIAB and Q45 are the only fairly new ones of that group you listed and they were registered on PPM and hired onto TI's team within a week or 2 of being on here.

How did you know, unless I've really complained about not being able to register that much.
but Apache, Gufu did get a popular topic when he started a mod. But mostly it was just spam saying " You can't mod Gufu!" and such.

So I agree with Ixith.

To Be honest im getting sick of PPM and now ive decided im only going to stay to look at a few forums there (mainly generals, hyper patch, TO and a few other mods) so im taking my buisness here and to cnc-comm.

I have honestly got sick of Red Alert 2 Modders telling people not to Mod Tiberian Sun and to move to RA2 with Areas, Hell with the way some of them are talking i would fee rather p-ed if was hyper thinking ive put all that effort in only to get ignored and suddenly to have people who would have used the patch move away.

BTW Tiberian Sun: Asset Expansion, they are migrating to RA2 so they can support RA2:TS:Rewire, and from the impression i got the creator to TS:AE thinks all of TS can be recreated which im sure it cant.

I actualy still want to mod TS and even CnC1 in the future and i would like to think people would be willing to support it

About Gufu, there are three things on the internet i cant stand 1 wanabe 4chan users(im not a user but dont want to be, however i dont care or want to know about your troling or rickrolls), 2 people abuse power and/or become untouchable with in a community and 3 people who arent given a second chance

and in my eyes Gufu is included in the latter so if he wants to mod or give good support/suggestions i thing yes he should join.

(we could try to do some more research in TS, try to find something both and something which will get a lot of member involved)
EDIT: we could also do a new comp/contest, after the Generals W3D one (cause i want to enter tongue.gif) my dislike of certian people who mod RA2 at ppm has worsened since the suggestion of any TS comp turned in to a RA2 comp (with exception of the generals one)

Yeah, Ares doesn't support even terrain deformation, one of the main reasons why I'm staying with TS.

I have never really liked PPM, many topics there turn easily into flamewars (for example check the "APOC has resinged" one) etc. However it has all the largest TS mods and Tiberium Essence so I'm forced to go there if I want to follow the mods' development.

no they didn't leave and go to PPM. They just simply left here. Hell many of them had probably been at PPM BEFORE being here.
and there are pros and cons to everything.

and i'll have to agree with how it is kinda annoying with the more prevalent push of modders who are against modding TS because RA2/YR is 'such a superior engine' when yea it is...shame it looks like sh*t though and lacks some awesome logics like the deformation and IIRC tree fires. Big shame. And yea those probably can and probably will get added to Ares in the future sometime but same goes for all the logics that TS is lacking too if people put more work and help into it. But i stay out of the debate because it's really just like religion in a way. It will never end unless one side is killed off completely. Which will one day happen most likely but who cares it's a game.
I typically always come here first when going to browse CNC forums simply because PPM just doesn't have that homely feel. It just feels like a bright eye sore of too much useless crap to sort through. And outside of these two sites in the community i don't frequent much as I couldn't honestly care that much about a game to frequent more than 2 sites for it.

simply they complain about every thing and need to have there nose every where; and on PPM they have got out of control, like a dogs thats gone feral, and what do you do with a dog thats gone feral chair.gif

Though I'm modding RA2, I definitely don't act like that. I think PPM is more to do with all cnc and stuff while CNC comms and Tibweb are more centered over one thing.

I guess it may also be due to the competition in PPM. Because of all the mods and all the modders around the quality benchmark is higher, while here it's more welcoming and better for the novice and amateur modder because they will get more (and better) constructive criticism.

We also have very high-quality assets here in Tibweb. Many members (me and LKO for example) have kept their assets Tibweb-exclusive to show support.

About RA2, I don't think the engine is superior, it still lacks many important features (like everyone has said already) and although people say that Ares fixes many of the performance problems (TS runs much faster than base RA2), TS will also get Hyperpatch soon, which will add logics to TS and remove some hardcodings.

Also the biggest mods are for TS. I don't see many hosted RA2 mods at PPM.

Tore has been surprisingly inactive so far, he hasn't even posted many news yet, except the ones he posted instantly after he became an admin.

Yea, I don't really venture around PPM. So, everything I've made is strictly TibWeb only.

I have lost interest in C&C. bye2.gif

Sums up my feelings pretty darn well.

I've found a forum that caters to something I'm far more interested in than games (which is [alternate] history). I spend most of my free time there. I make maps.

I guess this is the best place for posting this...

I remember the old days of TiberiumSun, and when TiberiumWeb was relatively new. It was very active, topics were posted daily, and I regularly chatted with my fellow forum members. It was my favorite forum.

Now, it has declined into a fairly inactive forum. Over the last years, less topics and posts have been made, and people started moving to other sites. Compared with the extreme downtime, that has made it what it is now. Because of the decreasing amount of posts made, I started to lose interest in this site. Also, the only C&C game I play right now is Renegade, so I really don't have much to talk about anymore. I became more and more inactive, and other users as well.

I would love it when this place becomes more active. I don't really know how we could accomplish this, maybe organize a competition, or expand our forums? It would be a shame to let this community die like this. We probably can't let this forum be as active as in the old TiberiumSun days, but it would please me if this would be a fun place to chat regularly again.
