Today, the
C&C 3: Tiberium Wars demo went live for all to download!
You can download it from
FilePlanet at the moment, but I'm sure more sites will catch on soon.
The demo can also be downloaded through EA's official program for downloading things,
"EA Link"There appears to be some confusion as to weather or not the demo is immediatley playable without a Serial Key. I cannot yet confirm this, If anyone knows can they please clarify this.
We have a seperate topic for the demo at the moment, so check that out too. Location:
Are you still reading? Get downloading!
> 27/02/07Thanks to DvD for pointing this link out, its better than both the above for speed and general usefulness. If you havent allready used one of the methods mentioned above, I would reccommend downloading from
GamerShell.

What ever you guys do don't use File planet unless you pay for it. Right now there is a 30 min wait just to start downloading and File planet limits download speeds on free users. EA-link is high-speed download speeds and has no wait times
I'm getting around 200KB/s (near my max bandwidth)
USE EALINK!!

Seriously don't flame me for saying this, but i don't want to waste my time downloading it...
It's quite a large file too... A VERY large file...
And i personaly do not like the looks of CnC3... I think EA Destroyed CnC, once again.

You've got a point there, Aro, but like I said, there's a chance the gameplay won't suck as bad as the rest of C&C3 (C&C Generals' gameplay was nice too for a little while for instance), so it's worth to give a try...
I'll of course never buy this (and would suggest no C&C fan does so either, but that's of course up to you).

Yeah, it'll still suck as C&C, but it might be a good game.
Bah, I hate large files, I wonder if TW can even run on my computer...

I don't have enough disk space...
That program extracts everything to my C:\ disk, and I don't have enough space in there...

On my computer the game looks distinctly like Generals, having most of the graphics settings on low (but with a resolution of 1024x768). Also, in the FMVs, the video lags massively behind the audio, which is distinctly annoying. However, despite this the game plays fantastically, and I really, really enjoyed it. Fantastic fun. The juggernauts do have to deploy too. But I thought it played really well. Although I still do believe the tiberium is wrong and the new Ion Cannon is a load of rubbish, it plays really well. Having to pay for the "generals powers" works well imo, meaning you can't just spam them, unless you've got a crap load of cash (they also obviously have a timer on them too).
I thought it was quite cool when the harvesters also say "let's get to that tib field" instead of tiberium

I personally quite enjoyed it. I didn't have perfect audio sync with the cutscenes (perhaps with high quality sound off it'll work, might give it a go) but it was nice to have them back again. Game looks nice and plays well. Brutal AI are a definite challenge and it actually has an in-between of the C&C build menus and that of other RTS games. You can select structures to load their build menu or pick it from the sidebar.
My only qualm with the game so far is with the map (so might just be a one-off) but it seemed to lack atmosphere. You're in the middle of a big city containing a large chunk of the planet's population, where are the people? On the campaign map, where was the tiberium life? Little touches like that I liked in TS and it made the game better to know you're fighting in a dynamic environment.

I agree with you about the asmosphere. Personally i found the atmosphere in the tutorial mission the best, as it's the most TS like.
I like the game for the most part, but it's a bit too colourful for my taste. It also doesn't control well, i REALLY can't get used to the alternate mouse button setup. I also really, really dislike the infantry squad idea and the fact that they all die so fast it's hard to imagine how one could really become 'pro' at this game, micro-wise (in Zero Hour the best 10% of players will almost always win from the other 90% simply cuz they have superior micro). This game seems to be mostly about outresourcing your enemy or out-teching him. I don't see rushes work, the personell carrier only carries one damn infantry unit, and a single turrel will stop the lone engineer from capturing a conyard.

Crash

I'm sure there will be ways to fix this mouse problem (I hate it too!) Or EA will add an option about it (hopefully)
I also hope we can mod the squad to be one infantry and fix all issues doing this. I really didn't like the EVA voice either, the EVA voice in TS just kicks ass !!! We may get used to it and start liking it. I'm happy to see walls and gates
Good things: Joe kuckan as Kane, Walls and gates, engineer (which I thought they wouldn't have included and used the generals thing)
Bad things: Removed mech, bad EVA voice, removed veins (right?) adding more stuff later

Well, I'm downloading it as I speak, but that's never stopped me from spouting off my ignorant thoughts before.
Hopefully the controls will be adjustable.
The video quality had a slightly home video camera feel to it, for reasons I'm unable to place. But to be fair I'm only basing this on the theatrical trailer and perhaps theres some crazy filters or something that need to be slapped on there before it'll be finally done.
On the other hand DvD's lament is my joy. I want as little emphasis on micromanaging is possible, makes it more twitchy and less strategery. I tend to think of it as a young man beating an old man in a timed chess match, not because he's better at chess, but because his young arthritis free arms can reach out and slap the chess clock at lightning speed where as the old man uses much of his time slowly reaching out, moving the piece, then reaching over to hit the chess clock.

I'm doing about 524KB/sec (and quite a constant speed too) from Gamershell. At this rate, it'll be here in a little over 30 mins.
I'll check this out in the morning - got a 3hr video-tape to watch, and nappy time is closing in. Also, there's a lunar eclipse going on I don't really want to miss. The skies are clear for a change!
[Edit:]Played it. After having played Generals too much lately, had to get used to build-time BEFORE deploying. I kept having the urge to click on a build-icon, then immidiately place it on the map...
Game looked nice (graphically) but sound was crappy and after a while even dissapeared. When attempting to disable the enhanced audio thingy - game locks up.
Audio problems might have been a problem with my audio drivers, though (not game). Running Vista with beta-drivers for soundcard.
BTW - anyone seen that Ion cannon blow stuff up?
PS - clouds came in right before start of eclipse. Stupid clouds. At around midnight, I did see the moon a bit (and it was nice and red).
