If i had to make a guess, i;d say you accidentally installed the really old direct-X sound drivers. Uninstall TD, then find the drivers and manually remove them, then reinstall TD and choose not to install the drivers and it should work.

Hey, serious question here. I want to know about this too. I have the old '95 version and I wanna play and mod it again, but the sounds won't work for me either. Yes, I installed latest drivers, yes I used the XP patch...and yes, speakers are on(there is no mute button on mine).

you can try VDMSound or run TD in a DOS-Box.
i'm able to run TD without them but with vdmsound it works too. And vdmsound brought back many old Dos games into my winXP. (e.g. One must Fall 2097  )
if that still doesn't work, try make the sound settings in the ini file (dont know which anymore, but it exist) manually. Sometimes the setsound program from TD wasn't able to find the soundcard under windows, so it was up to you to set it correctly.

If that all doesn't work.
Install a Virtual Machine with Dos and then TD.

Open the TD mixes with the XCC Mix Editor, look for the sounds and convert them to .wav with the XCC Mixer wink1.gif
