That's the way I do it as well, but I thought I'd keep things simple.

If you wanna change a color, I recommend this, while you may have to reinstall if you mess up, so keep that in mind. However, if you follow the guide exactally, just changing brown with your color and replacing the color you want, you shouldn't mess up. At any rate, do take note of the required utilities and what "hex color" is as that will be important.
