Just wondering what the sidebar limit is for buildings and units, i've done some mucking around and i've found that the unit sidebar limit is 75 and if i build anything that adds more units i get an internal error, happens 100% of the time.

Buildings on the other hand seem to have a limit of 76, pretty weird i know but i've checked it. If i build another building that adds to the sidebar the new buildings simply don't appear, for example a component tower is my last building at number 76, when i build it i can't scroll down and the component tower parts, vulcan, RPG etc. aren't available.

I'm 90% sure the unit limit is 75 through a few tests but something seems wrong with the building limit being 76, maybe it has something to do with the order buildings are built, example if i linked 80 buildings to be available immediately after building my con. Yard maybe the limit would be 80 but any attempts such as building a barracks etc. wouldn't open up any more buildings.

I always used to get an internal error when i played with my mod that has many many units and buildings and never knew why but i figured it out.

Anyone know for sure what each of the limits are? RECAP i've got 75 for units (pretty certain that's right) 76 for buildings (weird but i think it has to do with what buildings are built or in what order)

I know this is a noob post but oh well. ENJOY


UPDATE just maxed out buildings with prerequisite=GACNST can get to only 73..? if i add any more buildings with prerequisite=GACNST and it crashes, if i enable a building by changing techlevel to 1-10 but don't add prerequisite=GACNST it doesn't crash but they dont show up...

This is strange explanation please

This bug is commonly known as the Whiteboy-bug, who discovered the buildmenu tab limit already in 2004.
concerning modenc, the limit is 74.
I once encountered the same problem and iirc my limit was 73 for TS/FS.

It seems, from the research on YR a whole ago, that there is only a certain amount of space allocated for the sidebar cameos.

God knows where to find this in TS.

Do you mean with space a certain amount of bytes for the summed up cameo filesizes or
a number of cameos (e.g. an array with the size of 74 elements) ?

In the first case, can't you search for any memory allocation bigger than 3104*73=226592 Byte (3104 = cameo filesize) ?

btw, 2^18 is 262144 and this is quite close to 226592.

Maybe if you search for a 2^18 byte memory allocation, you can find it faster.
