I am looking to buy a camera in the price range topping at about 160 or so, though this is not too important, if you show me a camera priced at 170$ that is well worth it, I would consider that.

What I am looking for:
I want it to have optical zoom, at least. 3x would do, but 5x or more is all the better.
I want mega pixels (who doesn't), say, nothing below 5MP or so.
I already have a 1GB SanDisk SD card, so having an SD card reader built into it would be a great help.
I would like it to have a Lithium Ion type battery setup so I don't have to constantly buy new batteries or buy a charger and rechargeable batteries. But hey, if you know more about this than me, this doesn't matter entirely too much.

Other than these factors, I don't know enough about cameras to really say what I want it to have or not have, thus why I am posting here requesting help.

Do you want it for random snapshots (i.e. a more compact camera) or for proper (you know what I mean, hopefully) photos?


I'll have to admit I've found this a non-issue in my camera (a Minolta Z20). Granted I don't take photos as much as I used to but I haven't found myself replacing the batteries in it for a while.

Proper photographs.

I would use the camera for scenic shots, shots used to make textures (Ie: Grass, concrete, whatever), and whatever else I find. No Myspace shots here.

I love photography. I own a Sony DSC-W5 and its the best camera I've ever used (Sony makes the best cameras, in my opinion).
