I got this again this weekend, installed it, got the "failed to initialize . Please reinstall" message. I changed compatibility to Windows 98. I'm not getting the message any more, but as soon as it starts loading i get a black screen. I ctrl+alt+del out and its not responding. I changed a few graphics settings but still didn't work. I even took my GFX card out to run on my MoBo's onboard but it didn't help.
I have been playing many older games lately and they have all worked.
Any suggestions?

What OS?
If it's Vista you need to right click the EXE and click Properties, click Compatibility tab, and make sure you check Run this program as an administrator or the game will not run.

XP 32bit.
I'm worried about getting the black screen. On windows 2000 and NT/Me i get the initialization error.

As far as I know the "Failed to initialize" message is related to TS not being able to read some needed MIX files.
Do you have the original version or The First Decade's version of TS?
If you have the original version, have you installed the latest (2.03) patch?
Have you tried reinstalling?
Have you installed any mods?
I've never had any problems with running TS 2.03 on 32-bit XP.

It says i got a missing registry entry when I try to patch it. Im guessing this is probably just my file path. What should the proper path be?
C:\Program Files\???

o.O sweet! I had it installed to my desktop. I moved it to program Files. The patch still isn't working but the game does! wierd...
Anyway, yay!

Glad to hear that it works at least. Not sure why it was installed to the desktop though kind of sounds fishy (like you downloaded it). The default installation path of TS is usually C:\Westwood\SUN .

Nope, I got a games folder on desktop. Usually only has shortcuts in it but installed TS there.

Any idea on how to fix the missing registry entry?

re-install instead of just moving the files?
