Only cause im bored sh*tless...
Ima going to post this thread.

These are the counter parts, and what wins IMO.

Light Infantry - Light Infantry DRAW (Obviously)
Disc Thrower - Rocket Infantry ROCKET (Can shoot air and does not blow up when killed)
Medic - Cyborg CYBORG (Though medic has its uses, he is useless when a cyborg is walking towards him)
Engineer - Engineer DRAW (Obviously)
JumpJet - NO COUNTERPART JUMPJET (Cause it has no counterpart)
Ghost stalker - Cyborg Commando CC (For Obvious reasons)
Umagon - Mutant Hijacker UMAGON (Sniper can eliminate any Organic Infantry with a single shot)
Titan - Tick tank TITAN (Stronger and more value for money)
Wolverine - Attack Buggy BUGGY (Buggy is faster and in 1 on 1 Buggy seems to win)
Hover MRLS - Attack Cycle MRLS (hovers across water and simply better)
Harvester - Harvester DRAW (Obviously)
Amphibious APC - Subterranean APC SUB (Cause everyone else said it was just simply better tongue.gif)
Orca fighter - Harpy HARPY (Harpy is an infantry killer when on Guard mode and has alot more ammo, and in groups does devestation)
Orca Bomber - Banshee ORCA BOMBER (That unit is a highly unbalanced unit IMO)
Carryall - NO COUNTERPART CARRYALL (Cause it had no counterpart)
Disruptor - Stealth Tank DISRUPTOR (Its Just simply Better)
MSA - MSA DRAW (Obviously)
NO COUNTERPART - Devils Tounge DEVILS (Cause it had no counterpart)
Mammoth MK II - NO COUNTERPART (Cause it has No Counterpart)
NO COUNTERPART - Artillery ARTILLERY (Cause it has No Counterpart)

Well thats it i beleive,
Anyone agree?
i did not add any firestorm units...
Let me know if i missed any out.

Pretty good. I agree. I think it's balanced in a fear way
also the fact that nod has stronger defence

Obelisk+arillery - rpg+rpg+rpg+rpg. Obelisk and artillery wins biggrin.gif
And I am sick of people saying that GDI are better than nod in every way. Like one man said: nods only hope is a subterrain apc engineer rush. And the only bad is the stealth tank against the distruptor. The stealth tank moves a little faster and is hidden.

Sub APCs are far superior to amphibious ones. In every way. Just think about it. Also a lot of the maps don't really have any water in good places for the amphibious APC to work.
You can't make Umagon in multiplayer, so the Hijacker would win.
I prefer the stnk to the disruptor. Also, it really depends on how you use your units.
Plus comparing the medic and the cyborg in a combat sense was pretty silly tongue.gif I always thought the "counterpart" to the Cyborg was the JJ trooper, myself.

I wouldn't really say most units have counterparts, they're different sides altogether. If it was Total Annihilation, doing this isn't a problem. Both sides have specific strengths and weaknesses and can't be matched unit-for-unit.

About the APCs, Pokey is so right about that. Often an amphibious APC can only be used as a normal APC, because there simply isn't water. Also there are not many places where the Sub. APC cannot come quicker and with less danger than the Amphibious APC (with the exception of pavement ect.). The only advantage is that the Sub. APC is quite weak and slow (but who needs strong and fast when they can go subterrain) tongue.gif

And in my personal opinion the Disk Thrower is better than the Rocket Infantry.

But anyway, like Clazzy said, some units just don't have counterparts (like Stealth Tank vs Disrupter, those are two quite different units both better in different areas.)

I would think hover MLRS would be the counterpart to Artillery...mostly judging because of the tech levels.
I also think tick tanks are better than titans, because of their ability to deploy. a deployed tick tank beats the snot out of a titan

i don't think tick tanks are better than the titan i think if a titan shot first the titan win if the tick tank shots first the tick tank win

You know what??
Your all right about the APC... but i have not the patience to edit it ATM..
I Put the units in counterparts only to what i think they are remember tongue.gif
But lets not forget, The Artillery and Hover MRLS is in no way simular.
However The Cycle and MRLS Fire Simmular weapons..
Tore, the Titan is deffinatly better, have you looked in The .ini?
Titan Strength = 200
Tick Tank Stength = 150

And of course the Titans primary is alot stronger than the tick tanks little cannon ball.

For me its very clear the Titan would always win. Why? The titan has a turret and this way it always dictates the battle. It can flee and still fire. The tick tank has to stop to fire and the deploy feature doesn't really makes it much stronger. (except in my mod :biggrin: )

The counterpart for the Hover MLRS is the Devils Tongue. Both are all terrain units, both have low armor and both are only good against special armor types. Even if the MLRS has more firepower the devils tongue's surprise attack bonus can make it as useful as the mlrs.
And i would agree that Cyborg and Jumpjet should have been compared.
I would also say that the disc thrower always wins against the rocket infantry. The firing range and firepower of the disc thrower is so much bigger than the weak rockets, that it should be clear who wins. even if the rocket inf can fire at air units, the firing range is that low, that it is quite useless to use them as anti air defense.
The attack cycle and medic doesn't really have a counterpart IMO.

Dont forget the restrictions with devils tongues and terrain. If the devils are at the bottom of a slope and the target is at the top, the devils tongue will always loose, if the target can fire back. And I think that the devils tongue and the disruptor are more counterparts. They both have area damage weapons, rather than point. The disruptor is stronger and more powerful, but slow. The Devils tongue is faster and can go subterranean, but the weapon is weak against tanks, structures and hills and the Devil has got lighter armour

i'd have to say that disruptoors may be counterpart to artillery. both have a sinificint advantage in the right circumstances; diz can take heavy damage and thus make critical hit on an enemy base. the artys don't need to go into direct conflict to unleash pwnage though, so they rock as well

Yeah indeed, I'd also say that the Disrupter would be the counterpart for the Artillery. They're both very powerful and can be extremely useful in differnt situations. In a fight I think the artillery would mostly loose, but I'd rather see 3 Disrupters approach my base, than three Artilleries.

And I would think that the MLRS would be a perfect counterpart for the Stealth Tank. They're both not really useful and powerful on its selfs, but both have specials, the Hover MLRS hovers and the Stealth Tank is uhm stealth (it's all in a name). :blink:

The thing I like in tiberian sun is the technology... In nod : lasers, stealth
gdi: Hovers, Mech...
And stupid EA removing Mech from GDI
I hope Nod gets lasers again.

I Entirely agree wiht LKO on the Hover - Devil theory.
And i disagree on the disruptor - artillery theory.
Artilleries are defensive units,
And the disruptor is a highly offencive unit,
Espicialy when teamed up wtih carryalls.

i would only agree on this one, if you say GDI=Offensive side; Nod=Defensive Side
