games 2006 Options

what are your personal fav game(s) of 2006.

mine:

-hitman: blood money ( i'm a BIG fan of this series )
-Companie of Heroes ( at first i did not like this one seeing it was A LA Warhammer, and i'm kinda sick of WW2 games. but after playing it, i just fell in love with it, this is REALLY a good game a must have for any RTS fan )
-BF 2142 ( u must have at least one shooter, BF 2 is great, 2142 is more my kind of thing, meening its better )

for me personaly this was not a verry good year in gaming, but 2007 looks like it will be a good one.

BF2142 ain't bad, I tried Gears of War... great game but the multiplayer is frustrating as hell..., Splinter Cell: DA was pretty good but I rented it over the weekend and I didn't get a lot of time to play it...

2006 kinda sux in gaming. This year there weren't too many great games released, and as an average, the ratings were lower for all games (PC at least) compared to 2005 and 2004. This year I didn't find too many great games (for me). I'm not confident that 2007 will be good either. Surely UE3 based games will be released (UT fan here), and will be the top, but honestly, ever since the second half of 2005, games started to be a graphical competition between companies. It's all just graphics now. The gameplay and storyline, only clichees. I think the gaming industry, for PC at least, is kinda going down, since developers forget that they make games and not realistic looking life simulators.

But anyway:
My fave for this year, and the game I simply love: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (without expansions, they kinda suck)
Company of Heroes
Prey
Quake 4 (it wasn't big deal though)

Games that I have, but didn't try yet: BF2142 (lol, so many)
Games I wish I had: Gears of War

Ones I have:
Half-Life 2: Episode 1

Ones I've played extensivley, but dont have due to crappy PC/not being bothered to buy:
F.E.A.R (+expansion)
Himan: Blood Money

Things I want to to play/want to play more:
Battlefield 2142
Prey
Company Of Heroes

As you can see, not a very long list. I dont tend to play modern agmes much, as my PC cant handle them, and because older stuff seems to be beter. As has been said, 2006 wasnt a great year. I think 2007 will be better though, as DirectX 10 is being launched then, forcing games to become at least more graphically enhanced (Although I am a firm beliver in "graphics dont make a game").
Also, some of the stuff from 2007 looks very nice. My 2007 "must play" list looks somthing like this:

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (Along with Portal and Team fortress 2, which look incredible)
Bioshock
C&C 3
Left 4 Dead (another Valve game )

All the above assuming I get a better PC, except possibly EP2 (Ill play that with graphical lag just for the experience!).

F.E.A.R. was released last year, and the expansion last year as well. Did you meant F.E.A.R. Combat?

@Creagor: I don't HL2 E2 will run slow since HL2 and HL2:E1 don't require high end pcs. I could run them on a GeForce4 MX440 (64MB), crappy cpu and 256MB RAM, on medium settings, and the games looked great even that way (didn't feel a big difference except for water and HDR lighting). And the game is a bastard; it won't let you raise your settings if it sees that your hardware couldn't handle it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about FEAR combat...ah happy days...

EP2:
Yeah, but apparently its having a "physics upgrade" as well as some enhancements to the shaders. But I run it on medium settings (with water effects, which are beautiful by the way) quite happily, so if it get too much I suppose could just turn the graphics down.

Still, EP1 was my fave from 2006, EP2 may make my fave in 2007 (or EP3 if thats released...?).

I didn't really get many games this year, but Quake IV was excellant. Got sorta bored & never managed to finish it, tho.

SiN: Episodes looks good, tho. It's 20$ at a nearby Gamestop, but so is all three Quake games, so.. yeah. torn between the two.
