It was actually and it still is. The order of some ranks just changed and you also won't be getting a custom rank for free anymore.

The reason why I made them green is because grey looked rather dull and the green fits in nicely with the colors of the forum. Green also can't be connected to GDI or Nod; it'd look a bit out of place if you'd select Nod for your alliance and the unit below your rank is yellow.
