Mod.
OLD mod.
I had these ideas since about 2004.
So Im gunna start modding TD then move up thru all CnC games to TW.
So anyway, I havnt got a mod name, but It will be ready by 2007 Summer.

A few untis......

Humvee Avenger --- A humvee with rockets, every mod needs one wink1.gif

Hover Train --- It might be impossible, its been a while. It carrys several passengers and has 2 miniguns for Anti-Air and Anti-Infantry defence.

Black Hand --- Nod stealth infantry, armed with silenced sniper rifle.

I hope you do realise that modding TD isn't as easy as modding TS. To mod TD you can't simply edit a rules.ini file, but you'll need to edit it directly in the executeable file with a hex editor.

To mod Tiberian Dawn need to edit the C&C95.exe file with a hex editor.

It's very hard. Also , the vehicles have to be SHPs , they can't be voxels.
Needs more ideas though.

Interesting, I thought that the Dawn/RA1 unit voxels found in Tibsun.mix were voxels that were originally used in those games, that they put them into the TS code just because.

As for making the shp's the easiest thing might be to make the voxels in TS, take screens, then copy & paste to the shp maker.

The voxels would have to be pretty small though too of course, to make up for the difference in definipixelageamanation (I don't know exactly what that's called)

It's impossible to make a unit actually hover in TD. You could of course make the SHP look like it hovers, but it'd still look odd, seeming it doesn't bob; it'd just hang still in the air, making it look very odd...
Another way would be by making it an infantry, but even though it should be able to have an animation which makes it look like it actually hovers, it'd still look odd because for one it'd have a very small selection box and 3 of these units 'd also be able to stand on 1 cell...

Is there no idle frames? Possibly just make it bob up and down in the idle frames because its not really noticeable that it bobs while it flies from place to place... of course, I have never edited the game before...

Vehicles don't have sequences like infantry have and I don't think units can be animated by other means than sequences in TD... Which is why I suggested making it an infantry, seeming it's the only possible way to get the animation right... However, when this is done it'll be like an infantry, meaning that 3 of these can stand on a single cell (which 'd look very odd) and also certain values aren't the same for vehicles and infantry; an infantry with Speed=8 is faster than a vehicle with Speed=8 for instance.

Well I just assumed it would have some sort of Idle formation since all units were SHP's (Just perhaps unused since obviously vehicles dont randomly shuffle about) smile.gif

Yes, I rember now I did try a modding util, it came up a black screen with green writing. It was difficult. Still... Thx anyway. Ill try them mod tools.

Start modding TS as that's easiest, and if you *really* want to mod TW then start playing around with the SAGE engine. Only then move on to hex editing tongue.gif
