Third Theater, You Decide... Options

Well me and the other terrain artists of Twisted Insurrection have hit a bump in the road. We're going to add a third theater in addition to Temperate and Interior but we can't decide upon what we want.

Our temperate theater practically makes up 5 of it's own theaters:

- Desert
- Urban
- Healthy/Grasslands
- Wastelands
- Generic Temperate

And our Interior terrain also makes up for two of it's own theaters:

- Interior (duh)
- Subterranean/Underground


This is where we hit our standstill. Even though our third theater probably wont come until a later release (or maybe not) we don't know what it will be. Snow is the main option we have but I for one definitely don't prefer it (even though I am missing it...). I've added a poll, you can either vote for Snow or Other. Please post thoughts, opinions etc.

You have an interior theater! I've always though about making something like that. But I don't have pro skills XD.

I went for snow because it's tribute to the original.
And I'm not quite sure about how much variety a wasteland theater would make.
Otherwise, I'd say tropical. With some tropical huts and beach umbrella doodads XD

Interior Theater sounds great, I always loved Red Alert 1's interior theater.
I voted volcanic because I can imagine playing a match on scorched red terrain, and it looks great in my mind's eye. (Volcanic tiberium, anyone?)

Snow.. with some grass/other temperate tilesets included (it'd be cool to see maps where only some areas would have snow -- like the roads and cities would have dead grass and some foresty areas would have snow.. something we see here every spring and autumn).

In other words, some sort of mix between the temperate and snow/arctic would be cool.

I was serious in a 'that would be really cool' kind of way. As to a serious option for TI, i'll agree with Rampastein. Snow, but with some grassy tiles too. Would be quite realistic.

Yes I have to agree with this as a reason to do a snow theater & a good one at that, I always felt that the TS artic theater was much too lacking.

The moon.

Gah, everyone is a step ahead of me lately. I have wondered why GDI simply stopped their expantion with the Philidelphia. Why haven't they tried to colonise Mars, Titan, IO & of course our own moon to escape the tiberum threat. Sadly, a space theater however would end up having to playing by a whole new set of rules to some extent.

The volcanic idea is great i still remember the multiplay map Volc.mpr i thought it had a great feel & coloration to it even though there was no flowing lava in it.
Overall I feel tied Between Volcanic & artic theaters, oh wait Has anyone considered a making tropical jungle or Tiberium mutated rainforest?

I think a grassy theater whould be better like in TD because the temparete theater is too desert like to do things in europe or aisa.

Healthy and grassy areas can be done perfectly fine with TI's temperate, look at this map for example.

I cant find the TI topic with the picture (and cant up load it now/wont) but what ever happened to the warped thearter (or perhaps just terrain in which case dont answer if its still there) and the blackand white terain set you had at one point? (the black and white one looked cool, would be great for a "in the past mission )

Oh, hell yeah! Black and white would be awesome! Have you used both tilesets for structures?
I've been playing The Saboteur and it would be epic if everything was black and white, except for the team colour and the nod and GDI symbols.

Are you referring to the images in this thread? The greyed and warped buildings and terrain was part of a new theater me and the staff called "Afterboom". It played a huge role in one of TI's original story plots, but because it was too far out there and required a lot more work than what we originally intended at that time (This was planned almost 2 years ago) we decided to scrap the Afterboom idea and storyline and went for a different one instead. I prefer TI's direction now, but the Afterboom theater was certainly one of the most original ideas in any mod.

Everything is black and white, except for the enemy flags, fire and lights.

I'm imagining your temperate theater in monochrome, as well as the buildings and anything else, except, as I stated before, the team colour on the buildings, little colour on the infantry and marking on vehicles.
As well as blood and explosions being coloured XD

Those pictures are interesting but that's a bit adventurous, I don't think we'd even consider doing such a theater for one or two campaign maps. We're looking for something that can be used in both multiplayer and campaign. The volcanic and tropic mix is probably my most favorable option at this point in time.

yea thats the thread, that stuff was great and original, But back then TI was like a Uber cool TC Mod, now its like the sequel there never was. (personally i woud have prefered if it replaced TW rather than TS in the story line but when it looks this good i dont want to complain )

as much as i like that old stuff i totaly agree though that the direction TI is going in now is better (if i had more time i would honestly try out some of that stuff myself but im allready working on two of my own mods for TS)
