Depressions: The area known as the "Depressions" became known so for its marshy surroundings and it's rather stranded population. However in recent years it has become more and more of an interest to GDI as the nearby city to the north-west has been thriving and needs room for expansion. GDI also sees the Depressions as a place of strategical importance - a no-mans-land between heavy Tiberium infestations to the south and east (and thus, Nod strongholds). As the war has been moving closer and closer to this frontier there have been increased GDI activities in an attempt to build up the area, and bring it under protection.
In the last year the rate of Tiberium growth has increased slowly and the hazards reported from around the world have started to show. A green haze has swallowed the area which scientists (in their newly founded research estate in the small city) have put down to Tiberium spores in the atmosphere, being carried over from other areas, tinting the sky an ominous green.
