Better kill it than just trying to sell it with the awesomeness of it's 10-year-old predecessors. To be honest I'm not really interested at all, after seeing those screenshots and things like Kane's red eyes. I've also read from a few sources that EA is planning to ditch the classic base-building system and go with some system which is based around their new The Crawler mobile base unit.
