After many failed attempts to play Tiberian Sun online, I resorted to coming here.

At the Firestorm main menu, I click Internet to connect. I go through the process of "blah blah use of trainers blah..." and a pop-up, well, pops up, telling me that it is searching for a patch. At that point, another screen pops up informing me that it could not connect, and that I should restart as it is probably my connection to the internet that is at fault.

I know this is not so, my connection to the internet is excellent. The computer I am playing the game on is a little slow itself, but that should not the problem as it is just a little stupid. It works moderately, and should not be the problem.

Maybe I will have to install the game on my other computer, but it is brand new, and I don't want to, you know what I mean, screw it up somehow.

Suggestions?

EDIT: If you want an answer, this isn't the post for it - All it really says is that I've got the exact same problem angry.gif
lol! I was just about to start a topic phrased almost exactly like that. I tried to download the patch through shared internet components - but because Westwood's site seems not to exist, it won't do any good.

Best of luck, I'll be watching this....

A friend of mine also has the same problem, even though his game version is 2.03 (You can download the latest patch from Westwood's FTP, ftp.westwood.com). It throws the update thing not only in normal TS, but also in modifications (like DTA).

Would be nice to know how the game checks if the current version is the latest of not roll.gif

EDIT: A few minutes ago the FTP got filled with some EA stuff...

Just update your game through the game launcher (CD), to get to the online lobby just type in a username and a password and you will bee automaticaly "registered".

http://xwis.net/downloads/XWISC.exe

Try using that tool, it worked for me ...

Double post, sorry.

Same thing. I downloaded everything suggested, updated the game with the patch, etc., and it still won't work.

It no longer searches for a patch, but the message pops up almost immediately. "Cannot connect to Westood Online. Check your connection, blah blah blah..."

Q: Does Firestorm work online? I am trying to play Firestorm, if I play the normal TS, will that work?

*SIGH*

I installed the game on my new computer, and it works fine now.

I'm playing online as we speak.

SUN.exe is the one you select to install the patches (IIRC). If you click game.exe over and over it'll just keep downloading the same patch over and over.

Sort of like banging your head on the wall over and over

Cool comparation, I can remember me having the same problem a while ago. I can't remember what solved it.
I haven't played TS online in ages, since I got my new computer which could actually play other games, and didn't crash every 5 minutes.

Actually, on my new computer, it installed the patches manually. On my old computer, I had to go open all the files, etc....

I've done everything I can to play online. Nothing.

Same thing though, it returns me to the main TS menu after about a minute, with a message saying that "You have been disconnected."

Check the message on the lobby's chat room. Write it down and go ask help from the XWIS forums, like Tore said.

I still haven't fixed the problem my friend has.. although it doesn't matter anymore, the XWIS admins banned my serial for some reason.. probably because I used the same serial on five different PCs at the same time confused.gif
