When you start FinalSun, you should see a drag box beside the words "Terrain/Ground:" (underneath the scrollbar near the bottom) and inside that drag box there should be something like 0010 [Cliff Set]. Click on that and you should see a large amount of individual cliff pieces that you can place. For more detail, there is also 0015 [Cliff/Water Pieces], [0019 Bridges], 0025 [Slope set Pieces], 0030 [Waterfalls], and 0049 [Waterfalls-B], among others. If you see a piece you like, simply click on that piece and place wherever you want. It is recommended that you get an add on called "Marble Madness", which will help you place cliffs without errors.

See here: http://www.tiberiumweb.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=277 for a cliffmaking tutorial

and here: http://www.cncden.com/ts_downloads/marble.zip for Marble Madness, if you don't already have it.

As far as I understood, he doesn't have problems making cliffs but raising the terrain near them.

For this, there is tool in FinalSun which flattens ground. (The FinalSun tutorials explain how to use it, but I'll explain it anyway)

Right now I have a cliff like this in my map:

As you can see, the terrain should be raised near the cliffs. To do this, I select the "Flatten Ground" tool from the toolbox. (Before doing this, get marble madness from the link in BlackieChan's post and make sure the cliffs have no errors in them)

When the Flatten ground tool is selected, move the mouse cursor to a cliff. Then start holding the left mouse button and move the mouse cursor behind the cliff.

The point A is where I had my cursor when I started holding the left mouse button. The point B is where I moved the cursor (and stopped holding the left mouse button).

After you've raised the terrain, use the right mouse button to take the tool off.

I ended up with a cliff like this:

It will take some time to learn how to use that tool perfectly, but it's easy when you learn it once wink1.gif

You should ALWAYS, or almost always use marble madness when placing cliffs. Also don't repeat cliffs facing the same direction many times. This is called "straight cliffs". You should try to keep a general of not using more than three cliffs facing the same direction.

Keep mapping! wink1.gif
