Greetings, I am Rampastein and I've been playing TS since summer 2006.

I started to make this map in the end of August, and I've put a lot of time in this map.
This is the first map made by me which is detailed enough for me to post it here rolleyes.gif

This map is a non-symmetrical 6-player dark snow map.

The screenshots are from an older version, I'll update them someday.
The newest version features better detailed forests and lighting.

Ok downloaded and tested it out in a quick round.

Heres my review:
Lighting: 7.6/10 Lighting is really hard to get right on snow maps and as a starter in mapping you did a decent job really. My main complaints is that I think you could have done more with it though. I though the villages could have been brought out more with more lighting, which can easily be done by putting a normal invis light post in the villages. various water spots were not lit up and I think they could have used it.

Layout: 6.5/10 just needs more. I think you should have added more cliffs than what is there. A good use for cliffs in a future map is to create several routes for players to use to get access to the other areas. Also coulda done with some more slopes in areas.

Game play: 7/10 Didn't actually play a full round but from what I did play it seemed fairly basic.

So pretty good for your first publicly released map. I'm sure you will get much better as you keep mapping and experiment more with what you have in finalsun. smile.gif keep up the good work.

There would have been a problem with an invisible light post, because if the village gets destroyed the light still exists. A normal, visible light post would've worked though.
I knew the problems with the water, but I did all I could to make it look better.

The annoying part with making the lighting was that the map is very dark, and using lightposts in dark snow maps seems to be very hard.

Hmm, the original idea of the map was a battle in a dark, snowy forest. Well, I could've made more cliffs, and make several routes to access other areas.

I didn't focus that much in making a 'special' gameplay. I just wanted to make it balanced and detailed. (I looked at some WW maps before I started to make this map) roll.gif

I had some ideas of making the gameplay better with some special tirggers and things like that, but I'm not good at making triggers and scripts.

I have an idea of a temperate 2-6 player map already. Homever, I'll practise making maps for Ground Control II first.

And I'm also under attack by a computer worm atm, and I'm getting a headache from fighting against it ><' (Altough it isn't that much of a threat, because my firewall doesn't let it connect to the Internet, but it still slows my computer down sad.gif )

They're generated with the RMG?
Didn't know that.

Well, I looked at a few good ones. For example, I like Stormy Valley. (If I remember the name correctly -.-')

Of course I looked at Yelcraz Island and Town of Karasjok, too.

Actually, those two really helped me to make the terrain better.

I'd like to know more thoughts about this map, so more comments would be welcome smile.gif
