Is there a way to show the mission briefing as you start a mission? Like in TD/RA1.

This would allow for a nice story-driven campaign without movies, while players don't have to open the briefings for every mission manually.

If not, then I guess I'll have to make some movies that show the briefing text or something.

Yes that is possible.
Do you have xxc mixer Or you can get here Download xcc mixer 1.40
Open xcc mixer, look for tibsun,Go to Tibsun.mix open that then open local.mix ,Go look for mission.ini and extract that file.
And then you must edit it.

Whooo, Black Hawk is in a "moderator" mood...
I think it's not neccesairy to tell that you need the XCC mixer...
And also version 1.40 doesn't work too good, I should take version 1.45


And yes, in mission.ini you can specify the briefing... But then you have still to open the briefings manually.
I'm sorry tomb, I cant help you further. But I think it isn't possible (well, evryting is possible, but then you have to edit the .exe, and that is VERY, VERY HARD coded (i'm working on a decompiler)).

I was afraid of this.

Oh well... animated briefings inbetween missions might be purdy-er anywayz. I'll probably dig up Animation Shop Pro, create some animated GIFs, which I'll turn into some movie format like AVI, before converting to VQA...

hmm... might work.

Good luck with that dude, ill see you in 20 years time.

Anyway, I have never tried that myself, but is it possible to do somthing like in the RA2 missions.
Example: When Tanya dies, a movie is triggered, showing tanya being carried off on a stretcher.

Surley you can do that in TS, with text instead of a movie? (or with a movie, that'd be cool). So when say, MCV is deployed, a text/movie trigger goes off, giving you the mision briefing.

You can make a small movie appear where your radar should be but you can't make a large movie like the briefings, appear by trigger.

You can't...
It's by triggers, when you're playing the mission already. So you only can make a small vidio apear in the radar screen (by triggers).

Never mind. I'm doing briefing movies in-between the missions. I've already finished my first one.

I've attached the original GIF file I made (which is a hellovalot smaller than the AVI), so you can see what it'll turn into. Now all I need is to convert it to VQA, and hope the filesize turns out smaller than the (probably uncompressed) AVI.

Might be able to compress the whole thing with Pinnacle Studio. See if it will turn out smaller. It's 1 GB now and lasts only 48 seconds!

it does not matter how big the AVI is before you convert it to VQA, the file size depends of the block size... go to the VQA forums on ppm, i think there is a topic there expaining it.

VQA is 1,5 megs. Unfortunately, it's 640x400 - it dropped the top 80 rows of pixels! Now I'll have to resize the whole thing and re-convert it.
