You're forgetting that human players can see the buildup anim of the Stealth Generator when you build it and they can place a waypoint on it, so they know where it is. I really doubt this strategy 'd work against experienced players; they can simply send a bunch of units at you and you're finished. This 'd only work as a good diversion...
Even though I usually don't play as Nod, this is how I'd do it... Send subteranean SPC's filled with engineers and a couple others filled with cyborgs and rocket soldiers as backup at 2 different (as far away from eachother as possible) locations in your opponent's base, so you can capture structures at 2 locations. Build a stealth generator right away at one of those locations and build a hand of Nod at both locations right after that (so one Hand of Nod 'll be stealthed). If you have the time, build another stealth generator for the other Hand of Nod, but if you don't, just keep building defensive structures. While you're doing this, it's possible your opponent doesn't have enough units to attack both locations where you captured a building in their base, or it distracts them to one location and don't get to see where you build the stealth generator. In the meantime you can also send a bunch of ground units at ther base (tick tanks, artilleries, etc.) and thus you're attacking your opponent from 3 different locations, the first 2 attacks drawing away the attention from the ground units you send in.
And now improvise...

If your opponent isn't looking (like if he's micromanaging a scout) when you plant the stealth generator, it will confuse him very badly and work perfectly if you plant your stealth gen the very instant you make the first capture. He might just think you simply sold the building you took and might not immediately figure out why he heard "Building Captured" But you're right. Chances are, he'll hit 'H' right away when he hears your subAPC surface and the "Building Captured" announcement and might see what you are doing just in time. I never really suspected this would work against strong players, but if you pull it off, even if it's just against a new or weak player, the hilarious flood of "WTF"'s and accusations of cheating in chat would be well worth the risk. I think this bizarre tactic might even work otherwise just because it's really weird and unexpected. You gotta give me points for originality though.

QUOTE (confactor @ Oct 24 2006, 02:25 PM) you know what would be really funny? It would be funny if you built a nod barraks right next to an mkII and then send out a hijacker to capture it, using the build cheat to get your building in their base. then destroy their base with their own mkII hahahha. Cheating is pretty sick and despicable and I don't think that exploit works any more anyhow. It would make more sense and take less time to capture important structures with engineers early or flood his base with lasers and Obelisks if you're going to something lame like that. I only play with <3000 bucks to start so if the match lasts long enough for extremely powerful units like MKII to come out, it means you are exremely evenly matched or have tons of free money to tech really high for a pointlessly protracted battle.

Funny idea but would only work if you do this to someone as they are attacking you. Funny still, I'll have to try it my self.

Even though the laser turrets drain power, they don't need power to stay operational.

It'll work against the AI just fine. I've pulled it off on human opponents before but it's quite rare. Usually after a very extensive battle, they'll start getting sloppy. If you've ever been in a game lasting several hours on end, you'll know what I'm talking about here. For best results though, it's better to launch a three prong attack. Even if the odds are against your assault forces, it's all about the distraction. That second or two could shift the tide of the battle in your favor, or not.
