I would wait to start something like this until TibWeb picks up to the same popularity level as TumSun was.

I have my own mod concept that I'd rather work on, rather than devoting time to this. There's also the slight issue of me being a student and going out. Lots.

Hmm, the idea is quite ok. And I read something about inpatience? Recognise that. I also never read the whole forum rules. But the strangest thing I've ever done is: READING THE ENTIRE RULES.ini FILE!!!! Inpatience?? I like doing graphics stuff, so... maybe

QUOTE (jadems @ May 6 2007, 12:16 PM) Well, if I were maknig it, I would have lotsa tanks and infantry. Get to work on that. lol Also, I need hardly add that a mod requires slightly more thinking put into it than "lets get a load of random units and stick them together"

Se, the way it would work is that there would be a team of leaders who have the final say. Like I suggested at PPM for FD: QUOTE Organize it into sub-forums, maybe something like:
Voxels: -(locked-sticky) voxel list for the mod -voxel submissions in individual threads
SHP: --(locked-sticky) shp unit list for the mod -(locked-sticky) buildings list for the mod -(locked-sticky) terrain.. -shp submissions in individual threads
Ideas: -(locked-sticky) ideas to be used in the mod -All ideas discussed here
Applications: -(locked-sticky) list of things the mod needs.. -(locked-sticky) Member list: people affirmed to be in the mod, and their jobs -applications here in individual threads Here you can apply to contribute to the mod. etc. etc..
All the things in the "lock-sticky's" will be the things affirmed to be put in the mod, (controlled by whoever is leading the mod). the rest will be in individual threads (with a poll or something perhaps, on whether or not they should be used) So it will be somewhat of a democracy, although in the the mod leader team will ultimately decide what is in the mod. What we need though, are experienced modders who are willing to lead the project, so it can kick off - maybe about 3 would do. I'd say I know enough about modding to be a candidate, though by myself, I don't think I'd able to commit enough to this project to take it of the ground. (but then, school is almost over for me though, I might have some time then)

Slow and steady there, my friend - we need to get a leader team together first, - of people who the community will generally agree are experienced modders. Unfortunately those people aren't confident enough in the idea yet to want to contribute. However, if we can plan a good way to approach the mod, it will encourage more people to want to participate, which is my intended purpose for this thread. The model I gave in my other comment is a general idea of what I'm thinking will be the best way to approach it. I don't think the organization would neccesarily need to be as strict as what you mentioned above (tanks and planes really won't need their own sub-forums I think), although if it is needed, it wouldn't be too difficult for a leader to reorganize-- since all the submissions would be represented in individual threads Here's my plan: Once the forum is up, (I'll moderate), from there we can decide things, probably in this order: 1. Applications thread: Discuss leaders, when a decent team is formed then proceed to
2. Ideas thread: decide on the direction of the mod. Come up with a list of what is needed (this might take a while), then
3. Open Applications: individuals pick something on the list to work on, and apply by showing previous work, with respect to what they are applying for (i.e. show a voxel they've already made if it's a voxel that they'd want to work on) - Community might have a vote on whether or not it should be accepted, although vote or not, the leaders will ultimately decide whether or not to accept the application.
4. Once a job is accepted, it is recorded somewhere, and the one doing the work will post progress, when available, in the respectable thread (voxels in the voxel thread, etc.)
5. When it's agreed on as 'complete', then it will be submitted to the leaders in PM or something.
6. list of completed work will be posted in a sticky (probably locked, too) at the top of each sub-forum.( Oh and BTW thanks for the encouragement, Lightstorm I appreciate it)

Wow those are some cool ideas there; I don't think there's been a (decent) TS mod that featured Scrin as a fully playable faction... LKO you might even be a great leader for this mod, if you think you'd want to do it I really think this would be worth trying, and yea I think it's time to make a formal request for a forum for this modI'll moderate it for now, till a solid leader team is decided. I'll follow the model that I posted in my last post. Yea, we can make this work XD Let's give it a shot! What say you, admin?

LKO you can't convince me that you're not going to be on the leader team I really don't think you'd be as stressed on time as you think you'll be - the leaders just need to make the important decisions on the mod, and I'd see you as more than equipped for the task. and yea, we need a forum. I'll PM DVD
