Harzardous Crevice (2-5), UPDATE!! New version uploaded! Options

Hey.

Ok, i have been working on this map for a VERY long time now.
By very long time, i mean i began on it last year...

However, i could not continue the original, as it disapeared along with almost everything else.

So i started from scratch two months ago, and progression has been very slow as i have had things to do.
Plus, i forgot about it until last week.

So, This is the biggest map i have ever made... And i personaly beleive, the best map i've ever made.
So please leave me alot of comments... And err, a vote for a spotlight, lol... I'm getting desperate here.

Anyway heres a little story to go with it:: You will be fighting in the canyons and ridges of Asia.
These plains have already fallen victim to the first tiberium war and have remains to prove it.
The war has caused changes in the weather and natural system, meaning mutations have increased in a total of 55%...

It has taken me ages to complete this map, and i myself am dead please with it. ^_^



I was originaly going to call this map The Devils Canyon, as i planned it a long time ago.

@Nimron: I've finaly done it mate . I Bet you thought it'd never get done...

Ok well i know you lot like the pictures more than text, so i took some extra screenies.

EDIT 2:: Ok, all errors, bugs etc. Fixed, Unit Lighting edited, a few Basic things changed and ion storm length and gap changed.

That looks like a very well made map! (as usual )

The lighting is great and I would have to say I'm with Crashking on the ratings, I like the Tiberium Dawn buildings and the city looks good too

By the way, did you mean for it to be 'Harzardous Crevice'?

Well, only judging from the screenshots, and the minimap, I think the lighting is quite good, only it's not really 'special' (not to be offensive, because the lighting is nice). I mean it's a mutated map, with lots of tiberium, so the main lighting could be slightly green, blue, red, brown or something like that. It doesn't have to changed a lot, but a small change will make it much more original. It will make the map look much more interesting and detailed, and it will get spotlighted much more quickly. But even with this lighting it looks like a spotlight, because it does look very nice.

The rest of the map looks nice, but I haven't seen ingame, or in finalsun.

i must say i agree with Aurora on that the lighting could be a lot better. Its just that nothing really stands out. nothing is accented by a special lighting. the green tib fields look decent.

its a fairly nice map really. nice detail. i would say its worth a spotlight but so far what iv seen of the lighting just isnt enough. and maybe a few triggers added in and it will be good enough for a spotlight.

ok provided i didnt get to play a full game of it i did get to play a fair amount. and heres my comments on the gamplay i experienced.

review:
-the AI did well (played with 4 level 2 AIs) i was constantly being attacked.
-the ion storm........well the ion storm lighting is good... BUT IMO there isnt enough time between ion storms especially since they are fairly long ion storms. i like ion storms in all but the one on this map happened to soon and too long.
-there is lighting for stuff that isnt permanent. AKA blue tib fields and some of the green ones without trees. sure the lighting is good....just not needed cause it looks bad once the tiberium is gone from that area. so remember to only put lighting for a tib field if it has a spawning tree in it.
-cliff work looks quite nice
-somewhat limited buildspace though
-the old powerplants were a nice feature but maybe a bit too much power for something thats suppose to be old.
-the visceroids were nice too but with the constant ion storms and the constant attack from the AIs it seems as if there were too many of them. that is IMO though.

thats all i have for now. maybe ill get more later for ya.

I took in all the constructive critisism and made a new one.

Changes:

-New universal lighting, not a massive change.
-Lighting removed from none permament stuff.
-Unit lighting decreased.
-Ion storm gap changed.
-Name changed (correct spelling )

Any more comments please? I heard news that it may be spotlighted on PPM.

Yeah, i was thinking that some areas have little building space. :confused:

However! The T.D powerplants are capturable, which enables you to build close to them, Also, the powerplants are located next to tiberium... So idealy they're for building a refinery next to.

But i'll take that under advisment, thanks Deniss.

Well some good news for me, I've got my TFD working again.
I Found a nice little patch that fixes a lovely big bug it comes with...

So now i can release some Firestorm maps... Hence more detail...

I'm still delighted about this spotlight, thanks DvD.

just played a battle against GDI (i was nod for once ) and i won by sending rocket infantry at all sides of the opponents base and omg i've played this 6 times now i can't stop playing it ... aro you got me addicted to a map lol by far the best map you have ever made 10/10 :wink1:
