@LKO and others: GMax is realy weird in Anims... GMax looks alot like 3DSMax, so far I know.

@Roadwarrior: How do you get that hole into the door?
And I want to know how you make that "hole" into the door.
And I want to know how you begin drawing.
And I want to know how you make color changes in 1 object ... (just want 2 know) Par example:

ok now i've got 3dsmax open.
example: lets make a door rotate.
-select the mesh of the door (a separate model)
-on the bottom of the window is the frame bar (the only thing i wrote correct in the last post, sorry)
-there you find a button "Set Key" -click it
-the frame bar turns red
-now press the big button with the key symbol (on the frame bar appears a marker on the 0th frame)

-now press the big key button again (a second marker appears in the frame bar)
-press the "set key" button (the frame turns back to grey)

3dsmax calculates automatically the frames between the 0th and 10th frame. (i dont know if gmax can do this too; if not just add some more markers in the frame bar for every single frame while rotating the door for each frame of about 10°)
render the frames to single pictures and put them then together to a shp. If you dont forget the shadow frames you have a door anim in shp format.

in 3dsmax exists a function "extrude" while in polygon-editing-mode.
this you can use to extrude a polygon out of model, but also with negative values to "intrude" and this way make a tunnel in a mesh. (i see on your pic a function bevel polygons, you can try it with this one too, because it's like extrude with the addtional feature of making the selected polygon bigger/smaller in the same step)

the problem with roadwarriors way is, that there isn't a tunnel, just a hole in the model. So you can see through the model, except you add a second mesh to make the inner walls.

right, but i've got sometimes problems with this one. Because boolean doesn't calculates always the right intersection, that leads to doubled vertices or edges and sometimes even holes in the mesh if the two operands were very complex.

that what roadwarrior have shown there is just the color of the wireframe of the selected model/mesh. (and if not textured before, the color of the whole mesh as well; i assume that this is the way roadwarrior colored the model in the preview pics using several separate meshes with different colors)
If you want to color different polygons of the same mesh, mark them, press "m", chose a material, change the material color or even add a texture and finally "assign the material" to the selected polygons. (the 3dsmax way, i hope in gmax "m" opens the material editor too)
After that use UVWmap to adjust the assigned textures.
