okay the campaign sucked and made no sense at all, that wife chick was an annoying bitch, and overall it was really low budget and lame, it did nothing to replicate the epic mood of C&C3, lame, lame lame lame lame lame.

Well, since I was apparently one of the first people here to buy this, I figured I'd give my impressions of it.

Graphics: Honestly, the industry standard is well past where the graphics for Tiberium Twilight are floating by, the game is pretty, but its a very flashy colors cartoony pretty. Contrasted with a lot of the other games out right now, this seems like a bit of a throwback from the gritty realism of the new millennium to the brightly colored units of the early 90's. I'm honestly not sure whether thats good or bad and I think really depends on what you want in a game's graphics.

Story: I haven't finished it yet, but what I have done has been thoroughly enjoyable, and fully of interesting twists, it seems short at first, but honestly, I was in such a hurry to get to the end, I really didn't notice too terribly much. I've been playing for most of the afternoon an a mad zerg rush to see where the story goes, and I still haven't finished, yes, there aren't a lot of missions, but the missions are all long enough to make up for it. So far the story seems good, and I can't wait to see how it all turns out.

Gameplay: This is the thing I feel the most people will take issue with, yes, its different. But its not a bad different. With Tiberium Wars, we saw what boiled down to bad more of the same, IE: spam unit tye A, base rush opponent B. Yes, there is a pop cap in Twilight, and yes, it does prevent you from building an army of ridiculous proportions, but it is done in such a way that its still fun. I've really had a lot of fun with this game, and yes, its different, but after what, 15 years, you think its gonna be exactly the same? TD and TS were great games, but they were in the past, and by now, you can get identical gameplay in almost every generic RTS out there on the market, it was a tired and worn out set of mechanics, and forcing a game to keep running by those mechanics instead of trying something new is basically dooming it to be nothing but a cult classic that is played by the previous generations because it 'reminds them of the good old days.' Tiberium Twilight is fun, the gameplay is interesting, and forces you to fairly carefully plan your tactics, its much more tactical then previous games, and seems to be much more balanced.

Music: The music, this is something I noticed as soon as the first real campaign mission started, the music is epic, thats all I can really describe it as, and it backlights the game brilliantly.

So thats that, yeah its different, but if you judge it on its own instead of 'how close it is to the last games' then you'll probably have a lot of fun with it.

the texture quality seems a lot lower then TS, and the vehicles seem less pretty, it looks like something modders with out a ton of experience made, I'd expect more of a gaming company and I've seen better work from some of the moders here, I mean, just look at that tank, its sorta pathetic looking.

i gotta say, for all their faults, EA has done something rather impressive: they've managed to make a game, where the story is so compelling, that people will buy it even if the gameplay is boring and mediocre.
I really can't wait to see what happens.

oh I know, and I've been in relationships in the past, and I'm in one now, Of course I make sure they're aware of what I am, normally as soon as they show interest in me, as I've said before, this forum has been an experiment.

QUOTE (Team Black @ Feb 12 2010, 11:23 PM) *
Well to put it plainly, the english language applies he and she based on the individual's genitalia.

I disagree with the idea of being transgender, but I don't think of you any less of you because it. Life is the big 'WTF' that each of us has to go and figure out.
I mean no disrespect, but I'm not one to bend over backwards when people feel they're above rules of communication. If you're physically male I see no reason to call you "she" "her" or anything that implies that you're a gender that you're not.

My biggest reason for that, it's a little unfair to straight guys out there, who might unknowingly find you attractive, and then end up being totally embarrassed to find out that it wasn't as they thought. That's kind of like a hit below the belt just to the wrong kind of attention..

Mentally, you can be whoever the hell you want to be, that's totally fine with me. As long as you're not.. killing people or anything..

so what makes 'straight guys' comfortable is more important then what makes me comfortable?

I just loved the way they talked, I found the interactions between the AI and the representative of the Overlord to be quite amusing, and just the way they speak is elegant.

the change wouldn't matter, remember the world changed in 1995, when tiberium arrived. With tiberium, the countries might have remained together, or split apart in different ways, not to mention that GDI has completely redrew the lines for the planet.

Alright, I'll admit it, I don't think Tiberium Wars was that bad.
And in particular, after having just played through the scrin campaign, I really love their cutscenes. The flat, emotionless yet nonetheless awesome way of talking was really clever, brilliant, and basically, I've been having the AI talk in my head for a while now.
What are people's opinion's of the scrin?

Time I think, has come, to explain a great many things.
My absence from the site, what has been going on in my life, and who I really am.
I hope that you continue to see me as a friend after this, and that I will be able to remain on the site, but that determination requires more data then is presently available. As such, the information I will be sharing will be on a strictly optional basis.
Lets start 3 years ago, when I was 16, and I first stumbled upon this site it seems like its been forever, and it nearly has been. At that point I was at...to say, a critical juncture in my life, as a person, I was rather lost, I didn't know who, or what I was, I was a freak. I had no friends and no social life worth speaking of. I kept to myself and rarely left my room. Since then, using this site, and others, such as the Code Lyoko forums, the Petroglyph forums, and many other online locations, I slowly, and through the help of some friends and with this...experiment, I have come to realize what I am and who I am.
To put it bluntly, I'm 19 years old, not 18, I live in New York, not Maine, and I'm male to female transgender.
Sam, as a person does exist, and I wouldn't have been able to do any of this without her help. The entire experiment was her idea. The pictures are of her and yes, she does check up on this site occasionally, even though this is REALLY not her area of interest.
My real name is Wren, I'm currently living fully as a girl, and am happier with myself, and my life as a result of it. Which has contributed to my absence from this site, basically, I got a social life, I started getting friends in real life, and just now, am I finding time again to use the internet.
The other reason I've been gone, is mostly out of shame. I hate the idea of having lied to everyone. The experiment, which was to say, seeing how I liked being a girl, in a medium where my identity was unknown, was an extremely important part of my development as a person, and I wouldn't be here without that. But at the same time, it was you, and many others, who helped me realize that, a lot of you are good friends.
I hated this sham, but I understood the necessity of it. The project we'd started had a lot of work on our end, we made up journals, and diaries of experiences, compared and contrasted, and it basically allowed me to try out living as a girl, before I came out to everyone in real life, I was making sure it was what I really wanted.
But now the experiment is older. If I followed what we had established as protocol, the entire existence of this online version of Sam, would be terminated, and if I wanted to stay in the community, I'd reregister as Tsakara (yes, that is me who you were talking to on the petro forums), but I was unwilling to give up on the friends I've made, and completely replace myself in the community, and since I can't help but find myself drawn back here. I feel compelled to tell you all the truth.

I'm sorry for the deception, I can understand if you dislike me for this.

Oh and btw, my hair actually is pink; well, blonde with pink tips...and blue dreadlocks...I'll get a pic up when I find the cord for my camera, till then, I'll put up the old picture of it blue.

basically, I've been playing CoH, eve, and having a pretty busy real life, but I figured with the release of C&C4 only a few months away, I'd stop back here with a wave and an idea, an idea that, hopefully some people will agree with.

The idea is thus: Company of Heroes is epic, and amazing, easily the best rts out there right now, the gameplay is so perfectly balanced, the sides play so uniquely, and the battles are so epic, they easily put all the command and conquer games to shame, simply by regard to how tactical and microy the gameplay is, you care about every one of your units and take good care of them, the combat is intense and the graphics are beautiful. I can't even describe all the things that make it a great rts, but its exceeded my expectations on every front, and I'm finding myself hard pressed to find a game of equal quality, even Universe at War, which I loved to death can't hold a candle to CoH.

then I went, and read this fanfiction:
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3654039/1/Tiberium_Wars

and I remembered Command and Conquer. I went back and replayed the campaign, but the combat system was just so shallow compared to CoH, the delicate layers upon layers of tactics and micromanagement and cover were stomped all over by tank rushes and venom spams. gameplay wise, command and conquer is just not as good.

but it could be.
What if, using CoH as a base game, and borrowing units from Tiberium wars, a new command and conquer game was created, a total modification of CoH, that turned it into TW, but at the same time, did not, retaining the delicate progression of tactics and balance between the two sides.
Imagine, fighting house to house with infantry firing out of buildings, slowly working your way through the streets, block by bloody block, only to hear a crash as an Avatar rises out of its crouched position to tower three stories into the air, raining fire and death down onto the battlefield.
It would be excellent.

New textures would be needed since the C&C units are much smaller and less detailed then their CoH counterparts, but the models themselves could be pulled out wholesale, along with the dialog, large sections of the HUD, and other bits. The more I think about it, the more excellent and awesome I think it would be.
I've been planning it all out, GDI would be heavily upgrade based, with units that start okay, but get their power from being upgraded with enhancements and purchasing better equipment, while Nod would base on overall upgrades.
I'm still debating how the resource system would work, cause the CoH system works decently, and it would seriously gimp balance to just dump tiberium in wholesale, probably the best way to do it would be to have tiberium as one of the three resources (replace munitions or fuel with it) and have it acquired by capping victory points like the current system in CoH. But anyway, less me blabbing, more actually happening, anyone find this idea interesting?

Nothing built in our world has yet to prove itself more effective in a battlefield then a low slung heavily armored main battle tank.

If you look at the needs of the military when they use a tank, it becomes very clear why a tank is preferred.

Needs of a modern military in regards to a main battle tank:
infantry support - defending foot soldiers against threats too heavy for their guns to damage.
fixed emplacement attacks - destroying roadblocks, bunkers, machine gun nests, mortar pits, and trench emplacements
speed - be able to keep up with jeeps, trucks and other transport vehicles, as well as outrunning enemy bombing runs
anti-armor - the ability to destroy opposing tanks

with these goals in mind, we have the two categories of main battle vehicle:

tracked:
speed to keep up with smaller vehicles
slow slung harder to hit
powerful main gun
difficultly traversing forest and mountain terrain
great mobility in desert terrain

legged:
slower then wheeled vehicles, vulnerable to airstrikes
greater height makes a larger target
ease of mobility in rough terrain
greater height provides field of sight

with this in mind, in a normal battlefield, its easy to see that the benefits of a standard tank outweigh that of the legged vehicle, and in fact, there is little reason for any military to rely on them. EXCEPT, when the fighting moves into heavy urban warfare, or into thick jungles. Lets look at the locations of the Nod strongholds in Tiberian Sun: The rocky mountains, the amazon, eastern Europe, Italy, and Egypt. Except for Egypt, they were fighting in rough mountainous, dangerously mutated terrain, its easy to see why they would choose to switch over to legged vehicles given their combat environments, however by the time Ti8berium Wars rolled around, those mutated forests had been killed off by their own mutations, making standard tanks again the best choice.

I still come here occasionally, but I've been busy and honestly the only thing that really interests me is the community and the creative writing section, which I don't have nearly enough time to devote to. I want to continue with Odessa but I just haven't had time to write my next post, I feel like, if more people were involved and interested in the RPs, I would be more inclined to continue them, I want to go on, but it seems like, by the time the next person has posted, I've lost interest, or gotten busy while waiting.
I was thinking though, what if the bunch of us who enjoy RPing started up an actual RP forum, we can advertise it here, on PPM, the petroglyph forums and the EA forums, we have a solid core of people, and I hate the feeling that the community is drifting apart, if nothing else, the core of people that I talk and RP with, I'd like to try and hold onto, even if command and conquer stops being the focus.
