TiberiumWeb.org Community Forums _ Tiberian Sun: Firepower _ Firepower Demo #2

Posted by: Yoshi Mar 14 2007, 10:15 PM

THIS DEMO IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO DOWNLOAD. ALL IMAGES/FILES HAVE BEEN DELETED AND MY SITE HAS FINALLY SHUT DOWN.

Thank you dats. smile.gif

Okay guys, this is the thread that I wish to use to release my demo number 2. I'll let my other thread die and refresh this one with progress and will also edit this first post when the release occurs. Also, I request that all mappers play through the campaign before looking through the maps and triggers. Who knows, maybe there's some secrets in the map.

Read below before downloading this campaign:

General Information:
1. The campaign will have 4 missions, unfortunately, only for GDI.
2. The campaign won't feature all units.
3. The missions may have more bugs in it, but minor bugs are put off until towards the end. If I can't fix them by the time it's time to release the demo, then tough cookies for me.
4. The campaign order will be switched, due to some of the original maps being declared MIA.
5. Before you play the campaign, MAKE BACK UPS OF ALL YOUR FILES, or make a different folder to play the campaign on.
6. I will be restarting the campaign from scratch, but I will take my time due to having other things to do.
7. I will most likely change the name later on.
8. Make notice that the original campaign files were lost. These are the remanents of what some of the missions were like.
9. I did not place the missions in order.

A new tutorial will be awesome.
I hope that you get to finish the campaign. dance.gif
I've played some of the orginal ones. They're very awesome!
Good luck with this one Yoshi !

Sorry for the delay guys, but it's going I'm going to have to move the date to sometime later, because this whole week, I'm stuck with 2 major exams and 2 major essays. Right before spring break too.. confused.gif But oh well, as soon as Spring Break hits, I'll have a lot more free time. I really need the break. -___- Luckily, I'm going to spend time with my friends and going to the beach next saturday. Hopefully I can relax.

I apologise for the delay. Now without further adieu, I got to get started on my work. sad.gif

Oh snap! Take your time Yoshi I'm amazed to see your resuming this project. Good luck!

I'm wired on an energy drink and attempting to finish this rough draft essay before the sun comes up, but really quick, should I also release a semi-playable, but incomplete mission from my campaign? It features the MSRL (Mobile Stinger Rocket Launcher) and Dragon Mech (renamed from the Carnage Mech. Does anyone know who made it? I want to give credit where credit is due. sad.gif )

Some quick screenies from the mission:
(and I remind you that the recon bikes you see under GDI control are my testing Yoshi vehicles)

No progress on the campaign though. I still got an exam to do after this essay, and then I'll try to work a time schedule between the MMORPG I play, workings on the campaign, and a new flash animation that I'm working on.

If you get some better cameos, this would be superb. Also, there is a really cool Mammoth tank vxl by Holy_master here, in the Spotlighted voxels section. I suggest you use it. smile.gif

Posted by: Yoshi Mar 20 2007, 11:48 AM

I'll look into the mammy, but as for the cameos, since I declared this campaign dead, I will leave them the way they are. However, in the new campaign, I will try to place more detail and better content when it comes to voxels (most likely taken from other voxelers, giving them credit of course, with their permission) and cameos.

Something isn't right... The unfinished map is actually supposed to be finished (I looked at old screens at PPM), however, the back up I had of the campaign shows it as unfinished. My failure to back up my campaign correctly in the past resulted in this catastrophe in the now-present. I have no idea if I managed to release the files elsewhere before retiring. This has proven to be quite a headache. I might just release this campaign demo as practically defunct.

I don't know much of campaign making, but perhaps someone can finish the campaign for you? You know, for old time sakes? I'd really like to play a finalised version. maybe even some TS videos enabled for the ending of maps, as that would rock.

Posted by: daTSchikinhed Mar 23 2007, 05:55 AM

couple of suggestions from the screens

Make the chainlink fence half as high by cutting off the bottom... that would be nice

The soviet-style power plants could be made more noddish by making them smaller, and blurring up the cooling tower and making it grey, less bricklike and more steel-ish. an Easy photoshop edit in my opinion.

Actually dats, as well as everyone in the community, I'm going to make this campaign open source. Any mapper/modder/etc. will be able to continue the campaign if need be, and expand the quality from what I started.

Posted by: Crash-King Mar 24 2007, 10:34 PM

Awesome!
Any updates ?

Posted by: Yoshi Mar 25 2007, 12:32 PM

Not really any updates, but I have some screenshots while just randomly testing out other missions. They're all really REALLY buggy for some reason, but oh well. I'll release it all open source very soon. Expect it up by Monday (I have a friend over right now), and this time... no delay. roll.gif

And yes, I play on 1280 x 1024 resolution so expect the screenies to be large.

I WANT THESE MISSIONS OF YOURS YOSHI w00t.gif

Posted by: Aro Mar 26 2007, 01:24 PM

My only concern here, is the cameo's... Good cameo's, mean a good side-bar...

And in my opinion, a Good side-bar... Is good on the eyes, which make things like this look even better. smile.gif
Please get some good cameo's, and no missing cameo's... Please! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Yoshi Mar 26 2007, 05:02 PM

Yeah, the cameos now burn my eyes. But what can I say, this is a defunct campaign. XD I haven't worked for it since a long long long time. There's cliff errors in one of the missions, but oh well. Campaign is now uploaded and open source for anyone here. I will edit my post with further details.

Posted by: Crash-King Mar 26 2007, 05:44 PM

GREAT GOD!!!! HOW THE HELL DO YOU MANAGE TO MAKE THEM ?
SERIOUSLY!
FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN IN FINAL SUN:
DETAIL: 9\10
LAYOUT: 11\10
EXCELLENT!

Posted by: Crash-King Apr 8 2007, 09:45 PM

Happy to see that this mod got its own forum.
It needs and deserves that dance.gif
Congratulations, Yoshi!

Congrates. I look forward to this Mod.

Posted by: ShDwBoRn Apr 11 2007, 06:48 PM

Wow this looks awesome, i can't wait to play it!

Posted by: Yoshi Apr 11 2007, 09:55 PM

Haha wow, I was informed by Crash King about Firepower receiving a forum. I haven't seen a forum for my old campaign in over what.. 4 years? Thanks, Python. biggrin.gif

On the news of my campaign. I'm still experimenting with AI triggers for my campaign and let me be honest with you all. I'm not really satisfied with them. I'm actually thinking about going back to my "oldie" style of creating units and managing them throughout the map. THAT was what made my campaign extremely difficult to begin with. wink1.gif

You all understand, as I've said before, that I'm currently in school and blah blah blah, so progress will, of course, be slow. Whenever I can get a good break, I can start mapping somemore. But I'll be sure to entice you guys with screenies and such of map progression and ingame shots. Got to get you all hooked again on my campaign. tongue.gif

Wow, TriChrome, I had a feeling Id see this again.

But its good, because youre damn right. Firepower is, in ever game Ive been to, the deciding factor in the victor. The more plastic you can fill the air with, the better off you are.
