Well, I finally finished this map.

I haven't tested it too well, little bit lazy, so please report any bugs you find. The map itself isn't really special, just an newer version of my oldest map. Yeah, I know, crappy name, but I was too lazy to come up with a new one.

Anyway, I'll let the map speak for itself.

(the map has been changed, and is a little bit different from the megamap, nothing really serious though...)

*edit: fixed error

Much better than the classic version (Obviously roll.gif).

Well done. wink2.gif

This could just be me, but in the bridge screenshot, in my opinion, there is too little LAT detail. There is alot of clear LAT there, which could be filled up with some nice, eye-candy. Also, I don't think that the tiberium lighting is bright enough... This could again, just be me, but the glow looks... Weak?

Actually, I don't agree with your point on the LAT there. I actually think it's nicer to leave some clear ground here and there. This looks much more realistic imo than when every cell of the map is covered with a ground1/2/3/pavement tile. I mean, you could see it as an undetailed part, but also as a 5th LAT-tile (next to those mentioned). BTW, it's the first time in some time I left some clear ground, instead of covering every inch of the map with LAT-tiles. It just made more sense to me.

And about the lighting, do you mean the lighting on the megamap (on the large fields), or the lighting on the bridge screenshot. The tiberium field on the bridge screenshot hasn't got a tiberium tree, so the lighting there isn't meant to be so bright.

Anyways, thanks for the comments smile.gif

Hmm...... I dunno. The lighting on the megamap seems fine to me.

It looks good from what I can see on the pics, but I'll have to play it later and give it a review then. I did like the old one, but by the looks of it, this'll trump the old one in every respect.

I actually agree with you there Aurora...its just that I haven't been able to get myself from stopping covering the map with the other LAT tiles yet. wacko.gif It's just a bad habit that formed. lol

anyways I played it. Though I didn't get through an entire game due to an IE which I am 99% sure of what it is. The IE happened as I was going down to take the old GDI War factory. I had a group of titans and a Reapper going down and then I am pretty sure it was when they were crossing the bridge is when it IEd. Meaning that the IE was from the Meteors destroying the bridge trigger. which when I looked my only guess would be that the event to start the whole thing is 1GDI or whatever and I crossed it being Nod thus it IEd. To fix this just add in -1 for the area where you normally choose which house for it to react to.

anyways I did get through quite a bit of game play though.

Detail:9.5/10 the detail was great and what was expected

Layout: 8.5/10 Just absolutely beautiful. Had some similarities to Sunstroke in my mind but had a nice open abandoned city and bases with a nice mix of cliffs. Though I felt something was missing from the center of the map.

Lighting: 8/10 The lighting was basic but better than I thought the pictures made it out to be. Needs a day/night loop though. tongue.gif

Triggers: 8.5/10 gotta love that reveal trigger set up. Though possibly more easily done through use locals it was still quite nice. Then the smokey craters made for a nice feeling.

Game play: 7/10 Although I didn't get into attacking the AI that much they did attack me. I must say I was somewhat surprised of how fast they sent in a tick tank at me. However the did seem to use the same route which was straight down/up the middle.

Overall: 8.3 It is close in my opinion but I would say it would be worth the spotlight though that error needs to be fixed first of course. I will play it again later and see if I can find anything else that I like. (BTW just in case anyone is wondering I actually do an average using my trusty calculator for the overall score so it's not like its just some random number. lol.gif )

Great Job Aurora. Can't wait to see what other remakes you come out with. biggrin.gif

I have thought about leaving some parts clear of LAT tiles also, but then i decided not to. You see, the clear LAT tile is used everywhere, in places you can't detail, mainly on slopes and between detailed tiles. Now, if you look at the ground, you see a lot of the "clear" texture.

LAT is good, in moderation. I think ARO gets the prize for LAT addict - finding "clear" ground on his maps is a rarity lol.gif

lol, you guys are oddballs (aro and TB)...

But whatever. i absolutely LOVED playing on this map.

Detail:9/10 Simply amazing details.. Eye candy was abundant.

Layout: 9/10 It was indeed quite fun and fairly unique.

Lighting: 8/10 Slightly basic lighting, but it did get a feel across. I'd add a slight bit more orange for that "post-apocalyptic" feel.

Triggers: 9/10 Good trigger setup. Reveal was nifty, like Ix said. Far beyond my trigger skills.

Game play: 7/10 It was fun exploring the map and finding those thrifts, however the AI seemed to take the same route, so it was easy to throttle them.

Urban Layout: 8/10 Fairly descent layout, I liked it. I did, however, feel that since there are so many urban "centers" here, that there could have been a couple of vehicles or maybe a train.

Overall: 8.3/10. Definately spotlight worthy....

Therefore
Spotlighted

I agree that it's nice to have some normal ground aswell, I have left normal ground myself really. The lighting isn't supposed to be a huge green glow either, but it might be a little too weak. But still, tiberium doesn't reflect a huge amount of lighting like it appears in some maps.

However, the map is brilliant, I'll try to play this when I get home, and give a review possibly wink1.gif

Sorry I wasn't able to test :(
