Hmm, Good question. I've never actually looked into this myself. I'll have a look into it for you.

Target lines are drawn by the engine, so there's no way to change them without hacking the exe.

IIRC, the TS font in the score/map menu is using a fullfnt3.shp, which uses fullfnt.pal (consisting only black and white colors). The font in the main menu is actually just pcx images. Those can be found from LOCAL.mix.

Editing the game EXE is almost impossible for new modders. Key word is almost... But if you mess with the EXE, then it is possible you will greatly screw the game up... I've took a look into the EXE's, and they are confusing as hec. Trust me. You might want to ask Bittah about it though, since he is the one that made a working EXE for his DTA mod...

Actually edditing the game.exe isn't that complicated. It's very simple as long as you know what you're doing and you don't play around with anything that don't understand. ResHacker makes .exe and .dll edditing really simple.

Which is what I've just found out, unfortunate really cause I had an idea. hmm.gif

Oh, well, guess I'll have to get that ResHacker then. The only EXE editing thing I have so far is the free hex editor thing, and even then it's confusing to me. Anywho, back to the topic, I guess Aro might have a point there... Which makes me wanna make the text not green anymore for in-game... Hmm...

What has Bittah got to to with anything? tongue.gif

All he done was simple string replaces and with the help of me, the change of some hardcoded values.

First off, using ResHacker on the Game.exe will only allow you to edit the Icon and Cursor. ResHacker on the Language.dll will grant to the option of editing all the dialogs in the game, resize them or remove options etc.

Hacking, IE Reverse engineer the game code is another story, it took me a good 2 and a half years to get to where i am, and i am like... 0.0000001% to understanding it all, its not easy. Thus i create and help people without them having to go thought the same process.

If your on about the colour of the main text in game? The green one? There are two ways of doing so, first is follows Creagor's tutorial on it, but that has some drawing side effects, as it uses a hardcoded colour to remap.

Or the other way is the change the hardcoded colour, what works 101%.

Target lines... hmm, ill look into that now smile.gif

Actually the font colors can be changed by editing the certain color values in rules.ini. Under [Colors] (in rules.ini), look for Green= and change the HSV value to whatever you want. All tool tips and the version text in the bottom right corner of the menu will be changed to this color.
Different colors are attached to different things, so this way you can also change the multiplayer colors (even though they'll still be the same in the color selection menu, which you'd have to edit with a ResHacker and a Hex editor).

If with font color you also meant the cameo text, this is done by changing the HSV value of LightGrey (also under [Colors] obviously). The problem with this is however that this also controls the civilian remapable colors (both the ones on the buildings and units and the one on the radar).

Edit: Looks like you beat me to a post once again again, Luke tongue.gif

Ok, I admit I was wrong about having to go into the EXE to change the color. I didn't know that the colors you can change were in the Rules.INI file ether that related tot he topic at hand... Anywho, I did a test of my own, yes it works, but I honestly don't know how to change the target line color... Not though when changing the light gray... It also changes the civilian neutral color as well... Like I changed it to a pinkish color, and I found pinkish neutral units... Found this out while playing Aro's Indonia River map.

That's exactly what I explained in my post, though you only need to edit the regular Green (not LightGreen, DarkGreen and NeonGreen). Editing DarkGreen will change the green remap color (the team color).
