As the title suggests, this related to wether or not we will be using the Extended Tiberian Sun engine, or simply "ETS".

This needs to be establised for three main reasons:
1> So the people coding the mod will know to add ETS based code
2> So that people coming upwith ideas can include ideas that would only be possible with ETS
3> So that I know how much I can help regarding a custom executable/dynamic link library

The third reason is more for myself and anyone else who is capable of editing the exe and wants to help.

ETS - Arguments FOR
> Well, all the things ETS adds for one thing
> It is sure to be updated as time goes on, so bugs may be removed
> New features are sure to come along sooner or later as it expands
> The Launcher, with command line options built in.

ETS - Arguments AGAINST
>Well, I made a big Topic about most of them.
>Using ETS also restricts what can be done with language.dll modding
> A non-ETS custom exe could run almost totally seperateley from TS (it could actually run totally seperatley, but why clone tibsun.mix when it is allready available?)

Obviously there will be more arguments for and against that I have not thought of. Post them up if you want, thats why this thread is here wink1.gif

I'd say don't use ETS for now, but wait for a better version (stable and practical) to come out.

i wouldn't see it as exactly neccesary. If it's stable, sure, but there's really too many problems with it at the moment-

Some of its features might not even be necessary, and we also have people in tibweb who can splice the game exe when we have the need-

I think we don't necessarily need the features ETS offers.
Though if they make something actually good or something really vital to the community mod, we should use it.

I don't think ETS is really necessary - most units do fine with just one weapon, maybe two, and anymore than that potentially makes for a unit that people could just spam and it wipes out everything in its way
