Set in the early 21st century, Tiberian Sun once again pits the Global Defense Initiative against the Brotherhood of Nod in a struggle for control of the planet. With an epic storyline that unfolds as play progresses, players learn the reasons behind the worldwide outbreak of Tiberium and what happened to the notorious Nod leader Kane, who was presumed dead at the end of the first Command & Conquer.

Probably much better than the crap EA is pumping out with C&C4. Go retro! biggrin.gif

But C&C is headed for a slow death. The body has already been stripped naked, tortured, bruised, burned and broken. The rifles have been loaded, and a public countdown of the execution is being displayed http://www.commandandconquer.com/

95% of the C&C staff have been made redundant, so we can only hope for the proper tools to made unofficial patches I guess.

This is the biggest C&C news in probably the last 5 years

Does this help Hyperpatch at all? If not, then I don't see it as being that huge a milestone...

I think the news about the original C&C95 released as a free download was bigger.
I didn't really notice when RA1 was released as a free download, just read it from some forum a few months later.

The release of C&C3 was also more interesting. I don't think we'll get many new modders because of this.

Well yea, the classics are slowly dying, mostly because of modding limitations and incompatibilities (such as the IPX protocol requirement and WaveClass errors, although the community has fixed those). C&C3 has dozens of mods in development and I think it'll stay alive for a while.

But the newest C&Cs are dying already; no one cares about RA3 or C&C4.

! Where'd that Stargate mod that got canceled due to legal reasons go !

also, it's just hype to make people buy CnC4 after they go whoa, TS is good! Much like TD for TW

TD was made freeware about 3 months after Tiberium Wars was released. So it wasn't really a part of the hype.

I remember how fun it was to laugh at all the Tiberium Wars fans who were whining about TD being too difficult. Although I'm also getting owned in the Nod campaign, I never had any problems with the GDI one, except for the mission where you have to protect a village against Tiberium and Nod (mainly because the civilians ran to the tiberium fields.. I had to wall the tiberium field.. and the map took me about 12 tries).

No the only way it will help the Hyperpatch would be if people with experiance "hacking" (so to speek) offer to help, other than that with out the source code (which was probs destroyed/altered to become unrecognisable by WW) all it could possibly do is help drum up support and attempt to encourage Hyper

At least people here arnt complaining about the source code unlike on PPM

Finnaly my Fav game is freeware dance.gif hopefully with any luck we will see some new modders and mappers

That sounds really interesting. Did it ever get past alpha?

Spoke with APOC about this, EA has the source code, but employees cant touch it, along with all the other Westwood stuff, red tape etc.

I don't actually know. Last I heard the guys had some slow progress but had some voxels stuff down.
But I think I mixed it up, it wasn't EA with legal reasons, it was the company that produced Stargate that backed out because of the slow progress. And possibly because it was for an old game.

EDIT: found it http://www.tiberiumweb.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=746 by DaTS

Also, I finally got around to downloading TD, after procrastinating a bit!

LOLOLOL
And, in my way of human justification, the name, Talia Creigh, does kinda sounds like LKO...

Posted by: Aro Feb 15 2010, 10:14 PM

LoL! Legendary.

Posted by: Nyerguds Feb 17 2010, 06:52 PM

The only thing it changed for Hyper was that he saw exactly how they made the TFD exe... which wasn't all that amazingly special I think.

Posted by: raynor95 Mar 16 2010, 10:42 PM

Wha... Wha... WTF?!?!! WHat they´ve done now? i wasn´t expecting this, not FREE <-- , ahh well, atleast my TD copy is legal now ._. i´ve just... don´t believe it...

Posted by: Devestator Mar 19 2010, 12:42 AM

Freeware! Jadems reminded me about this.

This is obvious to most of us. TD, RA1, TS, RA2 are the best AKA WW games.
You might want to read my topic "Good Old TS"

But I have TFD anyways.
