What I don't understand is how the US government thinks it can control sites that are based outside the country. Isn't that invasive?

From what I've read, a lot of the hardware that keeps popular sites online is in the US and by shutting those servers down those sites would become inaccessible by the rest of the world aswell.

However, if the server hardware is on other countries they shouldn't really have a way of shutting a site down.

This could still be a threat for non-US based sites though, since the US makes such a law, other countries might follow their example.

It'll be visible ingame. I don't know why it's invisible in FinalTI.

Well, who is the admin of that site? They seem to support a bunch of mods, such as Mental Omega, and TI.

It's the official EA C&C site... roll.gif

I also noticed that on the blog I linked to, there's a mention about the Mental Omega mod for RA2 but there's an Ares expansion DLL trailer video on it. However it's still much better than what the site had before these changes.

They actually have the old games listed on their site? The site is also much faster, cleaner and better-looking than the old one. This just really upped my respect for this new studio. Also, http://www.commandandconquer.com/en/blogs/blog/84 ..

They seem to care more about the community now.

Now they just need to continue this support and actually make a good game.

Commandingly, they sound like they want to conquer strategy again.

Seems that they're taking a bit more time this time. Although this sounds more interesting than C&C4, I'm not expecting anything great yet.

That's exactly what I was saying. With "FPS" I meant the game state update frames, not the times the screen is drawn per second (which is the abbreviation's usual meaning). The reason why I used the Faster gamespeed as an example is that it's generally the most common gamespeed used by people.

The anim's damage is, as far as I know, done on every frame. So, since the FPS is limited to 60 with the Faster gamespeed, the anim deals 60 * 50 = 3000 damage in a second (assuming it lasts for a second).

Well, TI's homepage is at PPM, so it's logical to upload the pics there. PPM will also likely have its server problems fixed soon anyway.

Although I don't know what Banshee thinks about hotlinking stuff from PPM..

Their database was just moved into a new harddisk (which was the reason for its unavailability), and at least for me it seems to be working a bit faster now. No SQL errors either so far.

When you have a buildable unit over the unit index 100, the AI will start spamming that unit, without caring about the unit's owner, prerequisite, trigger condition or other limits. Even if that unit wouldn't be listed in any taskforces.

PPM has had very bad performance problems like that for the past few weeks. Like LKO said, yesterday it was completely inaccessible.

EDIT: It's dead again. Can't access the index, nor any subforums or topics.

The quality is again as great as expected. However it's strange that although TI has a dozen of experienced mappers, all of them make only symmetrical maps. Should be an interesting 3v3 map though (if we'd get to play one someday). No problems with FFA either, except that the center players are going to get crushed.

The cliff making style is also interesting, never seen anything like that before.

Yeah, they're excellent, although I think some of them (Devil's Tongue, Howitzer) could be a bit smaller and the Banshee and the Buggy a bit larger.

Is there a way to change the mission briefing?

Yes, by editing mission1.ini. The syntax is pretty much self-explanatory, just look at how all WW briefings have been done.

Not as far as I know. Or at least I've never done that.

I have to say that C&C Generals is one of the best C&Cs in my oppinion. And if you don't agree, download shockwave mod 1.0 from moddb for Generals ZH. It makes it 10 times better than any other RTS...

If we take mods into consideration, then almost all games in the world are awesome. Generals has no story, has a lot of illogical ideas (woo, someone brought us money crates to the battlefield to harvest?), the engine is slow, the UI sucks, and it generally has nothing to do with the C&C serie. Feels more like something like Starcraft. The campaign was also rather boring. I don't know about gameplay since it's been a long time since I tried to play it last time, but it didn't feel like it would've been anything special. As for "10 times better", my opinion is exactly the opposite.

"Taking a franchise like Command and Conquer and expanding it to a wider audience is part of the strategy."

I find this funny. They're trying to expand it to a "wider audience", yet everything they've done is forgetting about the old fans (removing them from the audience) and let the series then die with their rushed products under the shadow of other, better quality strategy games. So the audience has just got smaller over time.

After the failures of Generals, C&C3 (although it was ok), RA3 and C&C4 I couldn't really care less tbh.

Use the event 51 "Random delay..." as the event and make the trigger type repeating (2).

Yes, it's mandatory to carry it out at the age of 18-30 or you'll end up in prison for a year. As an alternative option there is also Civil Service, which is essentially working 1 year for the nation without any salary.

The missing or corrupt DLL error has been fixed by setting Windows 98/Me compatibility mode and run as administrator on game.exe during the installation.

If possible, you shouldn't do this on XP since the compatibility mode just causes the loading time to get about 10 times longer.

Nice work otherwise, although in my opinion it should give you more installation options like whether you want to install Finalsun or not.

Well, it doesn't have many modders but the latest version of Nyerguds' patch has some players (at least many thousands).

thats all true, but the MAIN reason is that c&c games are dieing. The old ones are dieing cus theyr old, the new ones bornt dead...

Actually I think the old ones are still well alive, just this forum isn't. I think TS has lately got more popular again, partially thanks to Twisted Insurrection which has lately been very succesful at ModDB.

As for not posting anything, I don't really have anything to post except when someone has trouble with modding. I don't make public assets anymore since they're so underrated compared to mods' assets, instead I'm slowly doing stuff for DTA and TI. When you make a map and release it at here and PPM, it gets about 100 downloads at best, while the mods get thousands and thousands of downloads (so more people are enjoying the map which you worked hard on).
