It feels bad that WW didn't include the SSM Launcher for Nod instead of using the GDI schemed Rocket Launcher.
I think it's only in Internet or LAN.

And the Nintendo64 version is the same as TD but no SSM.
The SSM wasn't that good but heres a photo of it.

Nod does have the SSM launcher. It's not included in any of the Nod missions though because the TechLevel is not set high enough (don't know/remember the max value, but it defaults to this in multiplayer).

I've even had people complaining about it missing from DTA, but what most people don't seem to realize is that (both in TD and DTA's classic mode) you need to build an Obelisk before you can build the SSM Launcher.

I didn't even remember it required an obelisk. Makes no sense, why would a napalm missile launcher need the technology of a high-powered laser to be available?

I never thought it made sense either (hence why I made the temple of Nod the prerequisite in enhanced mode instead), but that's really how it was in the original TD.

The SSM wasn't that good

I think it's one of the most important units Nod has since it can outrange Advanced Guard Towers (which would otherwise take many tanks or bikes to destroy). They're also fast and can easily escape if GDI sends an army of tanks after them (although AFAIK humvees catch them, so they need something to support them).

As Nod I usually build only a few normal rocket launchers because the SSM launcher can't shoot air units.

I agree that the Obelisk requirement makes no sense.. although I always build some Obelisks, so it doesn't affect gameplay.

The SSM is one of the greatest units Nod has. It can out range anything! Even Obelisks!

and both the MLRS and Medium tank were for Nod, which is proven by their colour scheme in the cameos, appearance on Nod's side in FMVs and so on. SSM is my favourite unit after the Flame Tank in TD, I hope it had an introductory mission (in TDR maybe?).

Yes, I admit the SSM Launcher shot the furthest of all Nod Units.
But it should never be alone as it's health is LOW...

Bittah, did you enhance the health in DTA?

I have TFD, but also the Nintendo64 version which is the original, but instead of internet had 4 special ops missions.

The SSM was not included ever, but it came in later versions I think...

WHY would it have Obelisk as prerequisite in DTA?
Temple makes more sense.

Because the point of the classic mode is to be an as identical as possible copy of TD, while the point of the Enhanced mode is to well.. enhance it. Also, yes, I did sort-of enhance the SSM Launcher int he Enhanced mode: I turned it into a Missile Launcher (so it can attack both ground based and airborne targets), while giving the Artillery an even longer range.

Just an excuse for it to take longer to acquire I assume, same with the Service Depot and Mammoth Tanks.

The mammoth has auto-repair technology though, so that sort of does make sense.

Those don't prove anything... there's a yellow version of the Medium Tank render, and those icons were only made in '97 for C&C95 anyway.

It's only fair that it can attack air like GDI's MLRS.

C&C95, it was amazing when I first played it...
Yeah the differences...If I'm talking about DTA it should go in that forum...

I hate that I had the RA1 DOS. So somehow I'm actually glad I didn't have the comp version...

Nyer would say that, he makes patches for it! tongue.gif

RA1 DOS? There was no DOS only version of RA.

RA had both DOS and Win95 versions on one disk...

I need to be more specific...first off I had RA1 and it worked on my 95/98, but on by old XP it was crappy DOS.

And what I said about Nyer, check his last post where he quoted me.

I wasn't saying he worked on RA1. Check his sig!!!

Yes, I know that Nyer makes patches for C&C95 (as I said previously). However I misunderstood your post since you didn't include a quote of Nyer's post.

In the old screenshots, both sides had a lot of stuff in common, which was probably a leftover of the Dune II design, where all three sides were 90% identical. It seems the distinction between the armies of the 2 sides was only made later.

I guess bluish-grayish.

But GDI has always, and stayed Gold.

Urgh, don't remind me of the golden light tanks in one of the FMVs >_< Nod also had the medium tank in the final GDI FMV where the temple blows up, and in those FMVs where Nod raids a village.

Yes. The tank wreckage in front of the Temple is a Medium Tank.
