TiberiumWeb.org Community Forums _ Tiberium Wars News _ CNC Battlecast Prime Time debut

Posted by: The DvD Aug 14 2007, 07:08 PM

In the first episode of Command and Conquer TV: Battlecast Primetime (Flash version http://www.commandandconquer.com/swf/CCTV.html), EA Games had announced that an Expansion Pack for CnC3 is on it's way. The Expansion is named rather unoriginally "Kane's Wrath", but a proven concept is never wrong, right?

One of the biggest features of this Expansion is surely the 2 new subfactions for GDI, Nod and Scrin. I wonder how they'll pull subfactions of GDI and Scrin out of their hats, but i'm guessing it will be similar to Generals: Zero Hour in which 3 commanders for every Side were presented, each having their own battle philosophy and distinct set of units. In the newscast linked above you can see some concepts of new stuff that looks quite promising. There are also some screenshots which you may enjoy by clicking on Discuss and read the topic!

Awes0me.

Also, any money on this, the subfactions:

Nod:
-Kane, true nod.
-Ajay. Remember the part when he says that Kane's gone mad? Yeah.

GDI:
- True GDI
- I really have no idea.. Boyal?

Scrin
-Overlord
-The woman who informs you.

It's here folks, the "Revolution" that was announced a week ago. Click http://www.commandandconquer.com/intel/default.aspx?id=58#NewsMain to have a look smile.gif
They're planning on doing more of these, and the added feature "broadcast" on the new patch (1.07 I belive) lets you submit the replay to EA for a chance that they'd put it up on their next CNCTV..

They talk about the mod SDK and give a cople of previews..

It also talks about their next expansion pack, "Kane's Wrath" coming "early 2008", which will cover events directly following TS, and lead on past the story of CNC3. Yes, EA is indeed listening to the fans, and from the looks of things they're really wanting to straighten things out. Hopefully it'll meet our expectations, and answer most of the questions that we never thought would get answered..

But it might be a blessing and a cursing at the same time - I think a story like this would be pretty hard to pull off in as an RTS game, and since it'll cover a large span of time in the story, there'll be a lot of evolution involved. They'll have to find a graceful way to evolve titans and disruptors into predators and mammoth tanks..
And, with all this evolution, what will the multiplay factions look like?
I'm not sure how EA will pull it all off - Kudos if they do, but I'm now getting my hopes up just yet..
The expansion will also feature a new interface for the Xbox 360, to make it easier to use with the controller. I guess you select the building, and it has a dial you can pick what you can build. Will it work? we shall see hmm.gif

they also had some concept pics of new units that would be featured, Muldrake posted em up http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=15742

I dunno what to think about it, I guess it's good to see an expansion, but it might not be the expansion we want.

goodie now we can make a red alert mod for c&c 3 XD

Battlecast TV is a waste of time in my opinion.
But the SDK will make things a lot easier for modders, and the expansion seems pretty cool if done properly.

I like the expansion so far, and EA didnt release a bad game. The subfactions are a great idea, i have always specialized in mainly two areas in RTS games, infantry and/or airforce, and right now im hoping the Scrin will have a subfaction thats dedicated to the airforce even more than the original faction. Aircraft have such potential when you use them right. And the concepts they have released are pretty original also, an overlord juggernaut? Although i gotta admit EA has never been good with names, wich can seen by looking at the expansion name, overlord juggernaut things name, or even the game title wasnt the best choice.

Good to see they're making an expansion. I never expected those subfactions.

Tiberium Wars: Zero Hour, yay! ¬_¬

So if what's your saying is true, every game that has subfactions, or a unit that can be upgraded, is called "Generals: Zero Hours"? I think not... Why didnt you start yelling about Scrin vehicles before the expansion pack was released? Because Scrin vehicles are all mini-overlords in a kind of way, they can be upgraded, in this case fused, with something that helps them repel infantry.

Because instead of being productive and explaining his views on the EA forums, all the idiots who go 'EA IS THE CANCER KILLING /CNC/' tend to go to PPM and clutter up the place.

*facepalm*

Good to see that they're making an expansion pack.

Even though I have some negative views on TW (don't get me wrong, I actually liked a lot of TW's aspects in the game), I'll still check out the expansion pack.

I have a feeling we'll see alot of sonic tanks accompanied by mammoths online in the expansion, wich will make even more players play GDI and just rush other players to hell. roll.gif

Sounds just like Tiberian Sun online. Now people can replace the Hover MLRS rush with Hover Disruptors. Yay. roll.gif
