"Zaptagious" over at the official C&C fourms posted up this information from PC Gamer in Sweden. It's from an interview with Samuel Bass.

- The resource system is not yet decided on, but the solid fact remains .. there will be NO harvesting.

- Work on C&C4 began after the release of C&C3: Tiberium Wars

- A new dynamic system called Strategic Environment, accommodates the game to make it fun and challenging regardless the level your gamer profile is.

- Samuel Bass admits the multiplayer system and online browser has been pretty bad and that it's been too complicated to get into matches. A completely new matchbrowser with bigger possibilities and constant chat windows will be included.

- The player will be more involved and present in the games FMV movies; The camera will be an entity in the world.

- Decisions made in the campaign will be harder to make to create a more memorable story.

- They ask about Frank Klepacki but they can't answer that right now, but they say they have exciting plans on how it will be controlled. (If they didn't have him in they could've just say so, but since they can't talk about it it seems like they have at least thought about it.)

- They want to keep down the system requirements

Hopefully they'll let you bump up the graphics to the TW level. I love my Video card, I don't want the effects go down just because they want to make the requirements avaliable to everyone (not that I'm against that, if it means sacrificing the high end graphics, so be it).

Meh, they should just raise the minimum requirements to the same level the most of the newest games (ARMA 2, for example) have at the moment and then make the graphics look much better than Tiberium Wars' graphics. Most people could still run it, since it's coming next year and people have time to upgrade their PCs.

Although I'm hearing that the SAGE engine can't handle much better graphics, I'm not sure about it.

Currently even C&C3 has better graphics than C&C4, and other RTS/RTT games released in 2007 (Universe at War and World in Conflict) have better graphics than C&C3. Actually, from what I've played Ground Control II (released in 2004) I can say that even it has better graphics than C&C3.

Yeah WIC is awesome and it can run fine on one of my unupgraded PCs. The RA3 engine (C&C4's has a bit more features) is not SAGE, its RNA from what I've heard. It it suppose to be better that SAGE I think. I'm not a wiz with engines so if I'm wrong (do your research first though) don't go yelling that I'm an idiot.

RNA is just an updated version of SAGE (which is an updated version of Westwood 3D). I don't know how much better it is, but the graphics are still quite outdated.

Nor am I, and I wouldn't insult anyone even if they were really wrong about the engines.

The other points of the interview have been already known for some time, except for the Frank Klepacki part.

Well, graphics aren't everything, and let me remind you how everyone was yelling at EA to work more on the story and less on graphics. Perhaps that's exactly what they're doing.

Probably not though. tongue.gif

I'm absolutely ecstatic they might be getting Klepacki to do the music.

They should work for both.

QUOTE (some other C&C4 news topic)
- Dynamic music; GDI's is orchestral/militaristic, Nod's is religious techno interspersed with choirs.

Sounds pretty much like they're going to re-do the Universe at War (awesome) soundtrack wink.gif
