Ok... So I havn't played the mod in a few days, but when I tried to play it again, I get an error saying this:

Failed to Initialize. Please Reinstall

Or something like that. Any idea what might have caused this error?

Some file must be missing (either from TS itself or from DTA). You could either try to figure out which file this is and restore it or do as the message says and reinstall.

I reinstalled the game, the game itself works fine, even with my little mod changes to the themes. (Hehe, I gave my regular TS better music ^^; ) I'm with you about the missing file, and I've no clue what is missing from the mod. Maybe I should try reinstalling the mod? I'll report with results after my test here.

EDIT:
._. Seems it didn't work. I have no clue what is wrong though D=

It seems you're having the same problem Hunterwolf53 and KillerClam were having at PPM in this topic:
http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16488

My following post there seemed to have helped KillerClam to get it to work, but it didn't for Hunterwolf53...
QUOTE
I figured it might've not worked because you didn't update TS, so I ran I small test...
I copied all the files from the INSTALL folder on the TS disc to an empty folder on my hard disc and then installed DTA 1.0.3 over it.... It worked perfectly, so whether you have updated TS or not doesn't make a difference at all.

You should try starting TS itself from the folder you installed DTA into and see if that works... If it doesn't work, then there's your explanation.

If it does work, then there has to be something wrong with the DTA files... Maybe not all files were extracted from the zip folder or the zip folder got corrupted during the download.
If this is the case, first try extracting the files from the zip file again and see if it works. If that didn't work, try downloading DTA again.

I hope this'll work for you as well. By the way, if you try to download DTA again, try downloading it from a different mirror than you downloaded it from before (from my experience the judeau.franva.org one should always work fine).

Well my TS works perfectly, even with my regular game mods. But when I try starting DTA from the TS folder, it always gives me "Failed to Initialize, Please Reinstall" or something that relates to MIX files... I even did the DTA reinstall thing and it gives me the same problem ;( The map editor works perfectly, but not the mod v.v

I just unzipped all the DTA files to my TS folder and I got the same error -.-'
And normal TS works fine.

Is this mod compatible with The First Decade?

Yes, DTA like nearly all TS mods is compatible with TFD.

I really have no idea... For as far as I know DTA should work fine with any version of TS. In matter of fact I even got DTA to work with the demo of TS, only the temperate (grass) maps wouldn't work.

Hey Bittah, I just noticed what causes this error. It happens when you have Firestrm.ini in your TS folder.

I noticed this by installing the mod on my old computer, trying to play it (worked), and after that I looked what files I had on my new computer's TS folder and compared them to the old computer's ones.

The mod stopped working on my older computer after extracting firestrm.ini, and it worked again after I deleted the file. roll.gif

I hope this helps.

About the mod: The mod is awesome, but there are some really small things I don't like, like the AI doesn't use nuclear missiles, the main menu music is "Prepare for battle" instead of the TD main menu one and things like that. Also, after finishing a skirmish game you start to hear the normal TS main menu music. (Though I guess I can fix most of these by modding DTA)

Thanks for pointing out it's Firestrm.ini what causes the problem, ^Rampastein, I must have overlooked this (even though I unknowingly fixed this for the upcoming release of DTA tongue.gif). I'll replace the menu music with the original as well (I couldn't find the original one before, but I have now).

Heh, you're welcome... Seems that I can remove the "ren firestrm.ini firestrmm.ini" line from my DTA launching .bat when the next version is released wink1.gif
