Thanks to Komfr and Nyerguds, there is finally a way to play the original Command & Conquer at higher resolutions!
They have created patches for resolutions up to 1280x768. No longer will the game look chunky on modern displays!
Download them over at http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?/hst/n/y/nyerguds/cc95hires.rar.
is there a non fileplanet DL site???
D2K, why dont you get them and put them in here?
Command and Conquer has finally catched up
Well done Komfr, and thank Nyer for making the patch
i don't want to subscribe, and im shure others will agree
You can actually register for free, getting a subscriber account costs money, however.
I had a free acount, but it's been a couple years since I used it. dunno If it's any good any more.
edit: Yep it still works. Thought I had forgoten the password, but guess not.
Here's a rapid share download link for y'all lazy folks

Hmm cant seem to upload it here
How do people miss the sign up for a free account? I didn't miss it first time i went to that website... over 2 years ago...
i dnno maybe because of the singup page that comes up.
any way i had a free account i didn't even remember i had.
the patch works well for that matter
I have a 19 inch screen with an resolution of 1280x1024 so I use the only version of this patch that would work on my PC 1024x768 and this was the result.
Some how I don't call this an improvement so it was a good thing that I backed up the low rez version of the game.
i dnno man works for me
For a start, people can quit complaining. This is a unofficial patch, people to try make a classic game much better (not that it already is), So be thankful that there is at least somewhat working higher resolutions.
Woah, nice work there... I'll test it out when I come home.
It's pretty funny to have CNC on hi res everything's microscopic
Yea, remember though... Westwood actually tested the game in high resolution, but they must have put it back down again because not all computers where fancy back in 1995
Indeed... it seems some people moan and moan about research into games like C&C, TS and YR, yet when they get progress they just moan.
TS gets the very same problem when you play on a map which is smaller than the resolution TS is using.
Not to mention, the program literally says to "drop A COPY OF C&C95.EXE onto the icon of the program to patch it".
It's pretty normal you'd want to keep your original exe file.
And streching movies and animations is quite impossible with a sinple resolution hack. VK said he knew how to center it, but he neglected to actually tell us HOW he did that, which makes his comment pretty useless IMO.
Well i have noticed VK does not really tell you how to do things, but rather boasts that he can do it. Rather annoying.
New patch available... much easier

Where can it be found, that isn't an EA site? For some reason I can't visit any of their servers without timing out...

hello,
i see that there is no patch for 800x600. Why?
Because:
1. I got exams
2. it's a HIGH resolution patch.. Not medium but HIGH
3. I don't have enough space in the exe file to add new code; I'd have to rewrite a bunch of code to do that
4. I have trouble hacking the setup tool. If the value in the ini isn't "0" or "1" it doesn't display the option that is selected. This causes problems when saving it again if nothing is selected. Right now I've made the default 1024, but with 2 options I can't determine which one to choose. I'd have to either make it ignore the file write altogether or fix the loading problem, both of which take research, and thus time, which I don't have at the moment, see note #1.
i understand. Tnx for your work anyway.
