I personally think the lighting is a bit over-done, but apart from that it looks really great. smile.gif

PPMSite is about all the C&Cs, and you will find that most of tibweb's population resides there as well.

The 64-bit version of Windows 7 does not seem to very supportive. That's the one I used, and C&C wouldn't work, along with other programs (especially Open Source).

I realized the same about Windows 7 and got back to good old XP. I did this because I will get backwards compatibility and since I'm used to XP. It will still be supported for years to come, and thus I'm just gonna stay with XP for a long time. I suppose you would enjoy the same.

If you are lucky to get all C&C's working with Windows 7, then do enjoy it.

>___>

This is an attempt to appeal to the retro C&C fans by using the older intended title. I don't see any reasonable explanation but that.

Mapping is very goddamn hard when you are to make a heavily scripted SP map that has some nasty objectives in it. Trust me, it's both time-consuming and hard. What's hard about mapping is that you gotta imagine what it's gonna look like and continue with that. Whether you do a good job or not is presented in the result of the map.

As for the easiest form of modding, I suppose it all depends on what level you are. INI-editing is just so basic, but it's not easy anymore when you're assembling a whole mod.

Tiberian is an adjective whereas tiberium is a noun. Tiberium are the crystals and the lifeforms. "Tiberian" is used to describe something with tiberium lifeforms involved.

Tiberian Dawn (adjective and noun)
Tiberian Sun (adjective and noun)
Tiberium lifeform (both are nouns)

See the difference?

Ah... C'mon! Don't be such a pessimist! Give it a chance!
Who knows what the result might be.....

I'm not being pessimistic, I'm being realistic. I do give it a chance, but finishing a mod requires a huge amount of effort. You are 100% free to prove me wrong. If you do prove me wrong, congratulations! However, I still do not think it's worth the effort.

Reply to Blacksilence: I might take some time to wander around here from time to time, but I have mostly moved on.

I dare say this is wishful thinking at its best.

Completing a mod requires a collosal amount of effort and self-discipline when the forums (and mostly modding itself) are so dead. In the end, it's better to face the fact that just picking up a less die-able hobby and ditching a mod that probably won't be completed anyway requires much less effort and is a lot more satisfying.

I've been playing some very old games such as Maniac Mansion: Day of tentacle. I've also completed Quake 2, and am now doing Quake 1 and 4. I'm considering trying many older games aswell.

Could we please hire someone with sufficent judging skills and competence in mapping to spotlight maps if the public approves?

And yes, this map deserves a spotlight.

It's not dead, people are just being busy with their lives. We should have some event to get it flowing again, that'd be interesting.

We'll sometime realize that the forums are gonna die, but it's not today, mister.

And yes, I will NOT like it if this forum is burried without the chance to take several backups of EVERYTHING. It happened with tiberiumsun.com and, well, I wish a backup was around (I know about the internet archive but it's really not that much).

My vacation will be The Gathering 09 (link), sort of. I won't go on a real vacation until the summer days. smile.gif

I have those problems, and for as far as I know, they're compatibility issues. Nyerguds might have a solution to the problem. I assume you have windows XP or vista.

Yeah, since many of the (potential) buyers don't have a VISA card they might lose money there.

BTW, I recommend you to register at www.ppmsite.com and post your map there aswell. It is a bigger C&C modding community, and you will undoubtly receive more comments and more will enjoy your map. smile.gif

I don't see things this black and white ...

While EA has failed at some genres/games, I like many of them. I don't like their business strategy, but hey, that's how business works!

I suppose I will go into "neutral".

This guy already legally owns the game and uses his own serial key to install it, so it can't be considered piracy. Also, no links to cracks and warez are being posted (and so far you're the only one who mentioned a crack; although FAFAIK cracks are legal as long as you legally own the game), so I don't think locking this is necessary

Indeed, I have done that too, and I don't consider it stealing; I'm just using TS standalone instead of part of TFD, for it is more practical for modding. Your serial represents your license, not your CDs. However, I'm not sure whether it still could be considered somewhat illegal, but there's no difference in downloading backups and making backups (which he in this case hadn't). Therefore, it can be considered on the edge of legal and illegal, and I think it can be tolerated.

On the other hand, you're best off burning out back-ups of the CDs, and doing as Blackster told.

It should work if you used your own serial.

You should try using more time checking your news posts, for they have some grammatical errors and punctational errors.
