So, here comes my next map. It's a multiplayer map for five players. It has a dry orange lighting in it. The map starts at night, but the sun rises after a while. I recommend you to check the repeat box in your sound options, because I chose the good songs for both night and day to create a good atmosphere. All the tiberium is located between players, and in the middle of every tiberium field is a pyramid, which can be captured. This way you can gain control of the field. There is quite much to do in this map. There are four "ancient mysteries" waiting to be revealed. Complete them all and the gates of Pandemonium shall open... There is also a civilian base in the middle of the map, and it's full of choppers. Don't go too close, or they'll start attacking your base and harvesters.

QUOTE (Orac @ Mar 29 2009, 10:54 PM) You, Sir, are a genius. Oh stop that, the key is just to put much effort in your work. QUOTE (BloodReign @ Mar 30 2009, 04:44 AM) Someone has been playing doom a lot lately Actually, I've never played it. So it's completelly my own vision. And I'd like to add one thing about the map itself. This time I was trying to make a well balanced map with a good gameplay, so that's why I made it symmetric. Edit: There's also an array and an armory in the civilian base. Capture the array to reveal the whole map, and the armory to be able to build Mammoth Tanks with only 900/each!

Looks just awesome. I like the idea of capturing pyramids to gain control of the tiberium fields, the civilian base thing sounds fun, and the terrain detail and the lighting is great. QUOTE (Q45) This time I was trying to make a well balanced map with a good gameplay, so that's why I made it symmetric. Symmetry doesn't matter here because of the special layout. I also see that while the layout is quite symmetric, you've tried detailing the terrain so that it would look as asymmetric as possible. While I haven't played it (and likely never will, since I don't really play TS nowadays - I lost interest for playing because the reconnection errors made playing in LAN impossible), I'm voting for spotlight.

Could we please hire someone with sufficent judging skills and competence in mapping to spotlight maps if the public approves?
And yes, this map deserves a spotlight.

QUOTE (Aro @ Apr 27 2009, 11:30 PM) Someone care to tell me why this hasn't been spotlighted yet? hmm I think what you should have asked is "Someone care to tell me why there isn't any detailed in-game reviews about the map yet?" It's a much better question. And I think you'll find that if you guys do that it'll pull more attention to the map itself and have a higher probability of getting it spotlighted than just people commenting on pictures. Anyways from the pics it looks good and I would suggest a spotlight but not until reviews from people have actually surfaced. If I had my TS installed and had the time I would get this rated for you but right now I only have the second of those two conditions and I really don't feel like installing TS right now. So maybe in the future.

QUOTE "Someone care to tell me why there isn't any detailed in-game reviews about the map yet?" Shut up you. Normally I'm always down for giving full reviews on maps, but you know I'm far too busy for that anymore.

I just played the map.. and here's my review: Lighting: 8 / 10; Although it was quite simple, I liked the feel of it. The light around the tiberium fields/veinhole monsters was very good, I couldn't notice any blockyness or other negative things. You, however, should've used some negative lightposts in some areas (like in the narrow passages between the cliffs). Detail: 9 / 10; Not much to say here; the detailing was great. Gameplay: 8 / 10; The map is well balanced. It's quite easy to defend in the map, however since all of the tiberium is located between the players, turtling is quite hard. There was one annoying thing in the start of the game; the civilian harpies attacked me when I had just built a Power Plant and a Hand of Nod, and killed my starting units, even though I didn't go close to the civilians. After that the harpies reloaded their ammunition and started attacking my harvesters while I still had nothing to counter them with. I tried building SAMs against them, however they did nothing since the players' units/base defenses don't shoot the Neutral house automatically. Layout: 9 / 10; A well planned, balanced layout. Although it's symmetric, the cliffs and other things are placed so that it doesn't look too symmetric. Triggers / other things: 8/10; I completed a few of the "ancient mysteries" without using FinalSun at all, however when I was rushing the last AI player I decided to take a look at the map in FinalSun. And it seemed that had completed all of the ancient mysteries expect for the "Osama killed" one. I saw Osama running once near the bridge, however then he got either killed or just disappeared. I made sure that I had completed the other mysteries, but I couldn't find Osama anywhere, and because of that I couldn't open the gates of Pandemonium. Anyway, the mysteries contained nice surprises, like the Ion Storm and other things.Overall: 8.4 / 10. An awesome map which certainly deserves the spotlight. I had fun against the AI and against human players it would be even more fun, since the AI doesn't use the capturable pyramids and other things in the map. With a bit more of negative lightposts, less aggressive civilians and working mysteries I would give it a rating of about 10. Keep up the good work
