make sure to souble check the ice ingame before being satisfied with it. Ixith has complained a lot about it causing IE's if it isn't placed correctly
Okay, as promised, here's a screen shot. Since this map is so small, I was able to produce an image of the WHOLE map ingame. Here it is:
@BloodReign: Ice worked fine for me, no IE at all.
Looking very nice Yoshi.
Thanks Python.
Just want everyone to know that 2 missions are completed fully and are 100% functional. The 2 maps are relatively small. The first one is relatively 50 x 50 and the other is around 70 x 70, but never fear, the maps only get bigger and bigger... and more difficult. The first mission was pretty hard though. Being that it's a small map, AI could come to your base in a short time. Just the way I like my maps to be. I actually got my ass kicked on the first mission because the AI was too aggressive... ON EASY MODE. XD
great job yoshi but I think that laser turret at the outpost should be moved to that dirt spot before the slope begins to go down
Thanks, BloodReign. I took your suggestion to heart and did it immediately. There were also some other changes I did to the map. Nothing too big though, just some small ones. Although the first and second maps were small as stated before. The third map will be fairly large (100 x 120; will expand if needed) and will blow your socks off, I guarantee you.
Progress Update: Map design is, from what I see, about 18% done.
to bad I'm not wearing socks atm
This map is awesome however, the Green lighting should be tuned a little down in intensity to prevent blocky lighting.
Else it all looks good, good job
This is much more interesting to me then most skirmish maps! Especially after years? of playing TS skirmish..
can we try em out so we can give advice, critism and compliments?
Glad to see interests of the both old and new coming here.
@Tartan Bunny: Maps are currently still in development. I'd rather have people experience the campaign as a whole rather in little bits (although I'm thinking about releaseing singular missions as "episodes").
@The DvD: Glad to see your interest in my campaign. Too bad there aren't as many responses on PPM as there are here.
@Crash-King: I'm using what Westwood uses for their lighting of tiberium. It looks blocky and ugly, but that's how it is. I'll look into it though.
@Everyone: The 3rd map is currently at 31% completion in terms of map design. When it is done 100%, I'll post a screenshot of the minimap as a small "teaser".
Progress is going slow and steady, although I'm going to visit a couple old classmates today, but here's a small teaser to make up for the time lost while being busy.
This would be my own representation of a Red Zone city. (Note: Progress updated)
awesome
Okay, one thing's for sure. I'm not going to map a red zone for a long time after this. There's just... so much green XD. Progress is going pretty slow. I've been playing Renegade again for a bit, but I'm mapping from time to time.
(Map Progress updated.)
Not surprisingly:
Campaign has been placed on hold.
I have a lot of other things to do at the moment.
I got finals coming up and during my break I'll be partying, hanging out with friends, and going places during the 3 week span, as well as I have begun drawing/animating again.
Might map for Red Alert for a little bit, maybe making 2 or 3 missions since it is very easy to build a mission.
My uncle got me TibWars (don't have to use a friend's CD anymore) so I'll be playing TibWars with him and some employees from EA (Yes, my uncle knows some of the staff at EA) online.
okay, im looking forward to when you continue and ofcourse to when its finished
Have I ever shown you guys the map I was working on until I stopped?
If not, here's a mini map of it:
And one screenshot of it:
Dear lord, I remember testing some of the triggers on this map. And even on an okay computer (1 GB RAM, 256 MB Vid Card and Dual Core processing) was I lagging on fastest settings. Repeating triggers was the cause because they had multiple instances attached to them. Still wondering if I should keep the triggers there because it really adds ambiance to the map.
(lol I swear I could read my own posts. Looks like I did show some, but looks like the pictures died out when my web host died)
So you are working again? I sense a high level of mutation in that map I hope you'll be able to finish this project now.
Wow, this is somethin
THe preview is looking REALLY spiffy
Ingame? I'm a lighting addict <3
The green will blow your eyes out. Blame the ion storm. XD
Well aware of the little error on the map:
Ruined City:
Mutated Countryside:
Yoshi, i want your babies
Call me crazy, but I think that the map is a little bit... Too green, lighting wise.
That's ion lighting..
if it was ambient, I'd give er the thumbs down
If that were to be regular lighting, I would've given this map the finger. But I'm still tinkering with the lighting settings, so it's not final. It's too bad that the ion lighting usually takes over all.
There are too many tiberium trees O.o
I really don't mind its greenery, it's certainly fitting to an extremely mutated environment, trapped in by the dense Venusian-like ion storm cloud cover. The ambient lighting would be nice to see however, one would hope it still carries with it the right atmosphere for a highly mutated environment such as this, without being as over-powering as one would expect of a tiberium-fuelled electrical storm.
Just noticed the date sorry, haha. Still it would be interesting know what's happened with this.
I kinda just slipped off of the face of the TS modding world. I've been pretty busy nowadays, and have, sadly, moved on from the computer life. I don't know how much the mapping tools have changed since my disappearance, but I do know that the skills has vastly improved well beyond my own capabilities. So I tip my hat to the newer (and old) generation of mappers and wish them the best.
As far as the campaign goes, it hasn't seen light since the last update I posted. Things are pretty... stale and busy lately. I've gone back to school and am working full time while going to school, thus cutting my free time to where I have none (my dad gave me my days off on... a school day). I've also recently gotten a car for myself to linger about and work on. It's a 1991 Toyota MR2 N/A Model going on to Turbo in the next couple months. I'm going from modding a game to modding a car! ...An expensive change I must say. For those that are still curious *cough* Fredrik *cough* I do still draw and webdesign. As well as doing some flash on some spare time that I don't exactly have.
My communication with other members has pretty much hit a stop since I started to avoid MSN due to the fact that it sucks up too many resources, as well as it causes some of my programs to lag to a large extent. The only one I pretty much talk to on occasions is Fredrik (CrashKing). I have Anthony (daTS) on my msn list and myspace, but I don't talk to him much either way, sadly.
I prolly should've gave more notification about my coming disappearance, but alas, it is time for me to disappear again. I'll come view the forums on occasions, but I intend to avoid PPM due to how much it has changed in terms of community.
Parting pictures! Works in progress.

-Yoshi
good to hear from you again, Yoshi. So, what will happen to Firepower?
As much as I would love to continue my campaign, I will have to, sadly, discontinue the project and put it to its final rest. In terms of the maps and mods, I do not know what will be done with them. There's pretty much only 3 maps that are fully laid out, one which is incomplete in terms of triggers and AI. However, their release is undetermined. There wasn't really any "unique" things in the mod for this campaign. Just using generic RA2 buildings, and user-made vehicles (one that was made by me and redrawn with more detail by a board member here) to be incorporated into the campaign with buffed weapons/stats (not too high and not too low). Nonetheless, I've always been proud of my work, no matter how generic it may be or how repetitive it is to another person. It's really difficult to decide whether to have these released to the public for someone to take them and go on from where I stopped, but the end product has a chance of not being how I intended it to be like.
The last map to be completed, minus triggers/ai/etc. was in the screenshot you saw with the ambient ion lighting (A simulated tiberian "red" zone).
So what does this mean? The campaign that was in its production stages YEARS ago is now considered: dead.
As for me, Yoshi, the map making "legend" from WAY WAY WAAAAAAAAAAY long ago (god, it's been how many years?), this means it's time to put down Final Sun and retire as a map maker; letting the TS community come up with bigger and better mods/campaigns of unprecedented levels that exceed that of which I was once capable of in my "prime". It's been fun guys, but now it's time for me to move on. See you around, whether it be on MSN, AIM, or whatever means of communication.
P.S. - Man... is Mathias ever going to submit another update for Final Sun?
Yoshi! If you're quitting you MUST let me finish what you have started.
We'll see, Aro. I'll see if I can pass on my work to you.
*sigh* Aro...finish TI first....seriously....
