Magazines PC Powerplay and PC Jeux released huge details this week about Command & Conquer 4. Here are some details.

From PCJEUX:

- Command & Conquer 4 will be the last C&C Tiberium game ever, after it's 15 year saga. EA is not ruling out the possibility of more games in the C&C franchise however.

- EA promises better videos. No more blue screens, only action. Commanders featured will not be passive. The tone of the videos will be much more serious and mature.

- The gameplay is much closer to an RPG, where in every fight, multiplayer or singleplayer, the experience will be won, and units will be improved. Also, the new unit "The Crawler" will play a very important role, it will be the battlecamp, and all units will be drawn to it. If the Crawler is destroyed, another one will arrive on the map in a safe place, like a FPS. During Crawler respawns, you get to choose it's class: Offensive, defensive, or utilitarian.

- Tiberium is harvested by a facility on a control point. I wonder if that means no more harvesters ... ?


From PC Powerplay:

- Scrin are no longer a playable faction and will not be explored any further. Scrin expansion will be possible however.

- The Forgotten will be present, but will not play a major role in the game. They will be neutral. You will be able to fight them for experience, or team up with them as allies.

- GDI and Nod will be the only playable factions this time around. There will be no less than 80 units per side.

- Support class crawlers can fly (The GDI support crawler is actually that large GDI aircraft from the mag's scanned pictures)

- The game is primarily focused around 5v5 objective based multiplayer.

- EA promises that the C&C world is not finished, C&C4 will just complete the story of Kane. You will learn who he is, where he comes from, and why he cares so much about Tiberium.

- There will be an application for your mobile.

- The Horizontal UI bar is not yet complete.


Also, since I seem to have not posted this yet, EA also announced to be able to play C&C4, you must be online at all times. So if you plan on playing C&C4 without an internet connection you better think again. Also, C&C4 will support DirectX 11!

wait so the "crawler" flies? Doesn't that defy some laws of physics? And if EA does go back to poke at prequels or maybe alternative timelines, maybe they can use the story westwood made, or get the petroglyph team to come and help (which I highly doubt)

No more harvesters, how dare they, a good strategy WAS to take out the harvester so the other person had to put stuff on hold to make a new one.

For me a respawning base unit sounds like a bad idea for gameplay (and it also sounds too newb-friendly).

If there are mobile bases, I think that mobile refineries (...) would've been a better idea than ditching the old system entirely. However I'll see how the resource system turns out before criticizing it too much.

I can understand that EA doesn't want to mess with Scrin again (due to communities' criticism), but it would've been better to leave them after TW added them. I hope the story will explain the Scrin' disappearance.

Not much to comment. I liked the Forgotten as a non-playable side in TS, but in TW they were boring, there were no neutral mutants around and the only thing the player could do with them was to buy them from some random civilian structure.

80 sounds much more than enough. I wonder how they're going to balance all the 160 units (without making many units with similar roles).

Although it could be good for some specific Crawler roles (defensive, offensive etc).

That must be why all the mechs have ugly feet - they must all have rockets in them! *half serious*

EDIT: Actually, if the crawler was replaced with Dropship or some such, that'd make a surprising amount of sense. Yeah... abandon crawlers, use Dropships...

Hes posting info for us to see since most of us come here for info regarding the C&C universe and seriously common, what was he gonna say then? If you say that, then pretty much everything in the internet is useless, its probably what he found, or maybe he found a longer version of it and he summarized it, so what? It helps us get to know what to expect. Also EA trying new things never amounts to anything good. Usually it just pisses me off and sets me of ranting in my home for the next 2 years, screaming at the game itself and throwing butcher knives at EA logos.

Excuse me? All my news sources are public and legit. EA has many news feeds that allow for public discussion, including Facebook, Twitter, and of course the official C&C forum. Open your eyes and look around.

In case you didn't realise. I was the one who provided the information from PC Powerplay to the community. It's a direct copy and paste of what I posted on the official forums and then edited to your liking. So please don't edit what I have provided to the community, it looks as if I'm providing false information. In future just copy and paste, don't change it to your liking, because you have f*cked up the facts.

He's found summarized information that I posted on the official C&C forums, and then edited various bits of the information, which has ended up resulting in incorrect information.

He never said the info was from you and how would we know, and if there was any mistake with the information we would gladly fix it but stating that in such a vauge and attacking manner won't help, instead you could have just pointed out the incorrect bits of info without attacking Python.
