TiberiumWeb.org Community Forums _ The Graphics Fridge _ The Gallery To Go to

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 21 2006, 04:35 AM

High resolution versions of my wallpapers and such are available at http://www.d2kstudios.com/gallery.php.
http://tiberiumsun.revora.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3647 is my original gallery.

Now, on to the pictures.

Today, I've got a little something neat I whipped up, experimenting with shadows, reflections, and depth. I don't know what it is, but the text still seems a bit out of place to me. :(

Now, for my demands suggestions, for the admins: increase the attatchment limits per post and globally. Emoticons with a white border against a dark background look like crap, fix that. And the buttons are just as bad. I mean jesus, they look like dinosaur sh*t. Oh yeah, and don't put attached images into thumbnails. And I am very displeased that you cannot edit a topics title after it is posted. Very displeased. tongue.gif
Last but definately not least, allow HTML. BBCode tags suck.

Ahwell, just enjoy the pic:

Actually, speaking of emoticons, I have all the emoticons without the white border!

*Goes to upload them smile.gif

Be sure to fix everything else too! tongue.gif

I love this photo. I don't know why, I just do.
Taken at my cabin, its just a macro shot of some small jars of spices.

Oh wait, I can't upload it! Gad dang it Python!

Looks good so far....the font strangly fits the backround! huh.gif

Posted by: ChielScape Oct 21 2006, 09:10 PM

what's it gonna be?

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 22 2006, 03:17 AM

If I told you it wouldn't be a secret now would it. wink1.gif

But here's something cool anyways.
The original version:

Since I want to use this as a sig I made a dark version of it too:

And finally, a good size:

Posted by: ChielScape Oct 22 2006, 08:00 AM

neither of em look bad at all.

Posted by: Xenus Oct 22 2006, 09:07 AM

yeh all of those pictures look cool smile.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 22 2006, 11:41 AM

Here's something using the same technique as that last image.

Posted by: ChielScape Oct 22 2006, 01:46 PM

less than the last one.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 22 2006, 05:21 PM

A wallpaper finally...

Posted by: Genobee Oct 22 2006, 07:25 PM

Nice kick-ass stuff.

Posted by: Uufje Oct 22 2006, 07:27 PM

Looks good!

Posted by: ChielScape Oct 22 2006, 08:25 PM

not too bad... sorry, but i dont like it at all.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 22 2006, 11:49 PM

Hmm...

Posted by: ChielScape Oct 23 2006, 08:08 AM

you seem to make a lot of 'em in no-time at all. the effects are pretty simple. you might want to spend more time on them, IMHO

Posted by: Twizted772 Oct 23 2006, 10:34 PM

Even though the effects are simple, the finished product is always good!

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 24 2006, 02:25 AM

Why thank you.

And Chielscape, I challenge you to correctly identify all of the 'effects' I use in any of these images.
While you work on that, here's something new.

Posted by: Team Black Oct 24 2006, 08:13 PM

D2K, you're a machine! :rockin:
you're like the master of photoshop (or whatever you use)

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 31 2006, 02:35 AM

I've been working on quite a few things recently, mainly my downloads system, which is nearing v3.
In this version, among other things, I'm adding icons for select file formats.
A lot of file formats, to be honest, which gives me a ton of work.
Here are a few examples:

I know that the compressed file icon is pretty bad, and the image icon isn't great either, I've spent too much time on them to fix it.

So far, I've made icons for all of the following formats:
7z, aac, ace, ai, aiff, arc, arj, asf, asm, asp, atom, aud, avi, bat, bh, bik, bin, bmp, bz2, c, cab, cc, cgi, cif, cpp, css, csv, cue, daa, deb, divx, diz, dmg, doc, dot, dpf, dsk, dtd, dv, gif, gzip, h, ha, hpp, html, inc, ini, iso, j, jar, jav, java, jpg, js, jsp, lha, log, lua, m4a, m4p, m4v, mdf, midi, mov, mp3, mp4, mpg, nrg, ocx, odg, odp, ods, odt, ogg, ogm, pcx, pdf, php, phps, pkg, pl, png, ppt, ps, psd, py, qt, ram, rar, raw, rm, rpm, rss, rtf, sql, svg, swf, tga, tgz, tif, txt, uha, uif, vcd, wav, wma, wmv, xls, xml, and zip.

Phew, I've been working on these for nearly 2 hours straight. smile.gif
Personally, I'm most proud of the CD icon, it looks really cool. wink1.gif

Posted by: The DvD Oct 31 2006, 12:26 PM

They look really good. If you did all of those formats in 2hrs then i'm wondering what planet you're from.

Posted by: Team Black Oct 31 2006, 05:53 PM

you could also make some for vxl, shp, map, and mpr's, that would be cool...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Nov 2 2006, 12:57 AM

I will as soon as I can figure out how to meaningfully represent game data in general...
Any ideas?

Posted by: DeathRay2K Nov 5 2006, 05:32 AM

Ah well, life goes on.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Nov 23 2006, 02:37 AM

Mmm, I like this picture. smile.gif

Also, obey the sig. tongue.gif

Posted by: Uufje Nov 23 2006, 10:14 AM

Triplepost!

I like them anyways tongue.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Dec 1 2006, 01:36 AM

Good to know. smile.gif

This post is really going to kill any users with slow internet who for whatever reason wander into this topic...

A few of you may know that I was working on a 2006 calendar, but unfortunately ran out of time and inspiration. This year though, I've got it done! And I must say, I was absolutely stunned by how it turned out!
I don't exaggerate when I say that the photos are awe-inspiring.

Without further ado or hype, here are the low resolution images:

Oh, I see, cool smile.gif

Posted by: Uufje Dec 1 2006, 03:43 PM

Whoa, nice smile.gif

Posted by: audjo Dec 2 2006, 11:20 AM

looks kinda like you google'd images and threw some text on them tongue.gif
i personally would have kept the text a lil smaller and out of the way, thats just me, do what you do smile.gif

Posted by: Team Black Dec 2 2006, 04:48 PM

google images don't really have the kind of quality as these pics in the calander; unless if D2k has a program that can enhance em...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Dec 2 2006, 06:26 PM

A quick plug: I've redone the Xaeon Mod website, go http://xm.d2kstudios.com!

I agree with you about the text audjo, I'm going to do that next year.

As for the images, no way Google has anything as good as these on it.
Although they look awesome now, when I got them, they were generally quite noisy and sometimes rather blurred, as digital photos tend to be; I spent most of the time working on this touching up the images to make them print-quality.

Seriously the actual images are amazing, I highly recommend buying the calendar. Well, of course I do, I made it, but still, its stunning. I gaurantee*.

*Gaurantee does not constitute a money-back policy
tongue.gif

Speaking of Xaeon Mod, here's a wallpaper...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Dec 16 2006, 01:26 AM

Hmm, I thought I uploaded these already, but apaprently not.

They're based on the TW logos.
Yeah, I know the Nod one is the old one. Can anyone point me to a high quality verison of the new one?

Of course they're both completely vector, and so can be absolutely any size with (almost) perfect quality

Posted by: DeathRay2K Dec 16 2006, 05:31 AM

Hem...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Dec 24 2006, 09:04 AM

Guess which spike is on the top. wink1.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jan 3 2007, 12:46 AM

I'm back to making sidebars...

Posted by: Dog Of War Jan 3 2007, 02:04 AM

Sweet, they're all so cool.

I like the 'Flame Demon' wallpaper on D2KStudios.com, tis the sh*t.

Posted by: Phatom911 Jan 3 2007, 11:33 PM

woa but im not wasting money on your silly calendars tongue.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jan 18 2007, 02:04 AM

Perhaps you've been wondering why I haven't updated in a while. No? Oh well, I'm going to tell you anyway.
I've been working on a fake hotel brochure for a research study on the effect of colour for Xerox.
This brochure is designed to make the colour pop in a most delightful way, but at the same time bore people with the black and white version (Which I won't show because its, well, boring)

Sorry for the large size, I couldn't make it any smaller without making the text unreadable.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jan 18 2007, 09:13 PM

Welcome.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jan 20 2007, 12:33 AM

Made in Terragen 2, which is really, really cool.
I haven't figured out complex terrain texturing yet, but I'm working on it. smile.gif

Coming soon, to a computer near you. smile.gif
Check http://d2kstudios.com/gallery.php?c=Wallpapers&s=3D%20Wallpapers&p=2 for the 2048x1536 version.

My new signature...
I had to use a very low resolution for some time, which really got me to appreciate the difficulty in viewing the internet with those restrictions. So I'm getting rid of my current huge signature and replacing it with this smaller one.

And another signature that I was considering...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Mar 17 2007, 10:46 PM

Here's a little WIP I'm working on at the moment...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Mar 18 2007, 11:55 PM

An update on that scene...
I've added some alien grass, changed some textures a bit, added fuzz to the alien plant, and changed its model a bit.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Mar 21 2007, 08:17 PM

I'm working on a little FPS with a friend of mine, and since we didn't want to buy an engine until we knew it could meet our needs, there's a 5000 poly per level limit.
Well, here's a start on the first level I'm making. The level itself is pretty much done, I just need to add in objects.
Currently there are only 163 polys, leaving lots of space for objects and the character. smile.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Apr 22 2007, 04:14 AM

I'm back to working on Xaeon Mod again. biggrin.gif
I'm going to redo all the graphics because I can do so much better now than I could then.
First up is the power plant.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Apr 22 2007, 09:10 PM

That was the Styrvyx power plant, here's the RADSS one.

Posted by: DeathRay2K Apr 23 2007, 12:01 AM

And here's the RADSS tech centre

Posted by: daTSchikinhed Apr 23 2007, 12:16 AM

interesting, but maybe the textures should include something a bit more.. high tech-ish. maybe with pipes and vents and sh*t. Still, i like them. =]

oh and you just broke the bunch-of-posts-in-a-row record with TWELVE in a row. Go D2k! pinch.gif

Posted by: DeathRay2K Apr 23 2007, 01:36 PM

They could, but you'd never really see them. These are for Red alert 1, after all. wink1.gif

Posted by: The DvD Apr 23 2007, 04:47 PM

I think the brochure of the Heriot hotel might look even better by using the hotel's glass wall itself as a background image?

Posted by: DeathRay2K Apr 23 2007, 06:42 PM

I wish I'd changed a lot of stuff in that, actually, but its done with now, and I only got half my pay! dry.gif The guy I was working for left the country after mailing me half my pay, and he just got back...

wowowowowowow! I seemed to have missed out on alot! These are all very nice D2K!!!

Though the tech centre needs some more... tech, to it... yarr...

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jun 8 2008, 04:43 AM

Well it's been a long time... And the images just get bigger! wink1.gif

That's right, this is a 2048x1536 16-bpp png. Hey, at least it's not in its original 32-bpp form, right?

Posted by: DeathRay2K Jun 8 2008, 08:12 PM

Here's another huge one and a fairly small one. I've actually made a better looking version of the colour one, but it haven't rendered it because it was taking too long... Maybe later I will.

Posted by: Aro Jun 9 2008, 07:38 AM

That is absolutely fantastic D2K.

Posted by: DeathRay2K May 24 2009, 02:15 AM

Long time no see, gallery!
Here's a little scene I did for a competition, and another one that I'm still working on for another competition.

Here's a little scene I did for a competition.

How did it do?

Posted by: DeathRay2K Oct 27 2009, 02:50 AM

Corsair: The only time I've won one of those competitions (so far wink1.gif) was with my stove image... Can't remember if I've posted that one here, but anyway, it's http://www.d2kstudios.com/gallery.php?c=Wallpapers&s=3D%20Wallpapers&p=2&f=stove2.png&m=details&a=Gallery.

So obviously I only check this thread when I have something to add to it, and I do indeed today. I've been playing with my new macro filters! Just a bunch of stuff I found in my room really, but made cool with macro! wink1.gif

Uh... Having some trouble with uploading here, so I guess I'll link instead:
