And TD only had Temperate and Desert

No, TD had Temperate, Desert and Winter. And my patch added RA's Snow theater to the list tongue.gif

Internally there's also a Jungle theater, but that was never actually made.

Then whats up with CNC Map Maker.
I know its not that good, but it crashes when you choose "Winter" style.

Hmm, perhaps we should take this chat to the TD mapping forum.

well TS' "Temperate" is Desert anyway X_x

I know, but this looks much better (and more real) than TS' Desert terrain.

There's several C&C1 map makers. You might want to be more specific tongue.gif

ccwmap editor is what I used.

Hint:It has a folder called "map editor for command & conquer" Yep, all lowercase letters.

Also I agree with you, I never knew TS had a desert theater. Most of TS's temperate theater is desert.
TD has a desert.mix and so does YR. And YR also has a desert.pal. TS has neither. Maybe I ought to look it up somewhere.

Why was the topic split twice, any ways TS's main theater Doubles up as quite a few things City, Desert, Forest (to an extent), mutated wasteland, just waste land. All you have to do is play about with the tiles until you get something which looks how you want it to look.

I had another useless comment which was..ah yea

Or was it blink.gif , i dont think it would still be there but pretty cool if it was; whats on this disc? DOS editing Tools, 3D models, a folder marked Jungle (dont think much of the DOS stuff survived the EA, WW merge and you didnt need it for the Gold version.)

I got the very first DOS version, with the beta sounds and everything on it. It never contained Jungle theater. The game doesn't even contain any internal tile info for jungle objects; just the tem/win ones and the Desert ones. Many of which, like the cliffs, are still shared anyway, with just different graphics for each theater.

The Theater Ownership flags for the tiles had Jungle disabled on all tiles besides the basic terrain though.

Eh, the original ccmap zipfile distribution has no such thing. Must be done by someone who repacked it.

Anyway... ccwmap should have the Winter theater, but you have to make sure you copy the game's mixfiles in there to make it work. Since it needs the DOS version of conquer.mix, I uploaded a version with all stuff included on cncworld:
http://www.cncforums.com/new/local_links.p...93&catid=69

Besides that, I also use XCC Editor, included in the XCC Utilities pack, because unlike CCMap, it can edit the outer borders of the map, which is needed to control where ground troop reinforcements appear when you make missions. A guide for setting up XCC Editor can be found here:
https://forums.cncnet.org/topic/270-campc1-...or-making-maps/

Besides that, I got a few more old map editors, including one that could barely be called graphical, and the original DOS version of CCMap (which was missing all Desert civilian buildings).

You said besides that twice. tongue.gif

I can see where you going with the "barely call graphical" part.

(im not saying do it or anything) BUT if it knows the difference between tiles then surely it is [u]possible[/p] to give the editor the ability to search threw the mix files and display the corasponding tile, of course it may be even easyer just to create a new map editor from start...

I said "desert terrain", not "desert theater".
Also that post doesn't really belong to "TD Map discussion" as I originally posted it on the TI map "Dustbowl battle" topic but whatever.

Oh, right. Well, you gotta admit it's confusing, with TS using Temperate as desert tongue.gif

revo: I don't get your point. The editor still needs to know where the mixfiles ARE before it can search inside them.
