How do you plan your maps? Do you go on it and just do stuff or do you make a layout plan?
I have been doing different from map to map. I might learn a bit of this.

Depends, sometimes I have a clear idea of a map, sometimes only some vague stuff. For SP-maps you have to have some idea of the layout, otherwise you might end up with unused space, or useless pieces of map, which are very irritating when you're playing the map. I always make sure that every route on the map leads to something important.

meh i usually choose a map size then decide what main feature will i have divide the map and start from there then slowly fill in details in that area and expand from it. of course thats what i do for multiplayer maps. sometimes i do have a layout like....a river canyon and then once i get that placed i build up from that. so simple i just use basis and go from there with no real already made layout.

my smmc map is kinda the same. i had a few major areas i wanted and had an idea of how i was going to make them and where on the map i wanted them to be placed then the rest i basically filled in.

if i start not liking my map layout i still go with it adding things here and there to try and make it look better.

I don't. I just open FS and be creative, which probably explains the simplicity of my maps. However, I do rather like simple maps since big, windy ones are slow and boring affairs to play.

To Tell the truth, i just grab random LAT's and go crazy heh...
I find it easier to plan on RA2 maps for some reason,
I have lots of map ideas, but i cant put them down on Final Sun..
It just comes out wrong and i end up deleting the map.
