I want to install CnC Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert 1 to my laptop, but I need to figure out how to make it compatable with Windows 95.

Suggestions?

God, I am such a retard.

I figured it out, ran the Compatability Wizard, and profit! However.... CnC Windows 95 AKA Tiberian Dawn doesn't want to work correctly, and Red Alert 1? Well... The disk won't even read.

Patch them both to their latest versions.. and as far as I remember RA1 needs a new thipx32.dll for it to work on XP.

ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/ccgold/updates/
ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/redalert/updates/

I'm not sure if this helps much, but I have TFD so I never really needed to do any compatibility tricks.

This patch for C&C95 helps a ton more when it comes to compatibility. And for RA1 I'd advice using the 3.03 patch. The thipx32.dll isn't useful on RA, it just disables LAN. And Scorpio made a better version of that dll years ago; one that fixes the problem by fixing LAN rather than disabling it.
