Just wanted to drop you all a line for our closed Beta impressions. Didn't know if you had seen these yet. Cheers, Nathan Stevens EIC/Digitalchumps.com http://www.digitalchumps.com/video-gaming-...mpressions.html

It's pretty much nothing like Red Alert, though. It's not too far off RA2 unit-wise but each side has a completely different build system (which inherently gives Allies the advantage if their base is under attack), then there's the whole "ore mines are limited" thing (and I think only one can dock at them, I don't pay enough attention to them though). I'd say Japan's units are overpowered right now but I'm sure that'll be resolved soon enough. Finally, the cameos and the descriptions for units look like they were written/drawn by crazy people.
If anyone wants any more detail on the beta and what's going on then I'll try and give some information. I've only found one bug so far and I've only had one crash (which I couldn't reproduce, annoyingly).

This is the open beta. At least, that's what they're calling it. Anyway, I just got the email!

Not saying you're oppinion is wrong or anything but, hey:
1) They force you to play navally. The MCV is in the sea, and spews out vehicles that deploy into structures. Only Empire uses those vehicles, the other factions have variations of traditional RA building. Most people also undeploy the MCV and move it back onto land, at least, I do. I rarely use naval units at all. 2) The gameplay is slow and boring. Well, that's all opinion there. I personally like it though it does become a bit too slow in some matches. 3) Too much micromanagement! Arrgh! No way! Micromanagement makes this fun, unlike C&C3 where you just select 10000 tanks and attack-move to the enemy's base. 4) There are no more ore fields, only ore mines. Certainly makes things different, since you don't have to worry so much anymore, but hey, more time for combat. 5) The Jap's superweapon is terrible. iirc the actual superweapons aren't in it yet, just things like the chronosphere... "sub-superweapons".

QUOTE (Nod Strike @ Aug 10 2008, 02:46 PM) Hmm, got it working, and I can safely say that RA3 is TERRIBLE!

i have a good time playing the beta, and i did not even have to buy KW to get a key whats better then that!
japan looks overpowered atm (how many plane/chopper units can they build?), altho there building system is a weak spot. sovjets have the same prob, place first then build is asking for trouble. the ore mine production is made so simple that it is boring, u'll forget about your ore production untill u run out of ore, altho seeing this game is somewhat focused on rushing that wont be a prob. It is interesting to notice that in this alternative future, female uniforms require a lot less fabric than the male counterparts. its giving me some of the good old base building i so much love in TS. para bears IS WIN!!! maps wise, cant these people be a bit more creative! why always these symmetrical maps, or atleast make some of the maps non-symmetrical. symmetrical is a game killer for me personaly.
