Hi!! Here is my first map. Map Name: Valleyside Rumble Map Maker: Azri_Apoc Map Size: 50X50 Players: 2 Theatre: Temperate Tiberium amount: Medium Description: This is a small 2 player map. both players will have enough room to build a bases and also have enough tiberium to harvest for each player, the start position also not far from each other, and this map is suitable for short battles. this is my first map, so it may have some lack for a beginner map maker just like me. here's a minimap preview and here's some ingame screenshot Sorry guys, for making a small map like this, actually this is my first practice on mapping. Constructive Criticism are welcomed.

Well firstly it's nice to see something from someone new in the mapping world. Here's my screenies and finalsun quick review: -Layout idea is nice -flooded with cliff errors though. Are you using Marble Madness? or do you just need some help with it? -detail level is actually quite nice -based on screenies the lighting is a bit too dark over all. -tib field lighting is too intense IMO though not too bad. I'm gonna assume you didn't edit the light post. -also remember to only place light posts in tib fields which are permanent. you wouldn't want light emitting from nothing except for ground would you? -its a little flat. I think you could have used more small hilly slope areas. -cliff work, to the exception of the many cliff errors, is decent for a beginner. Overall it is a decent map to start out with. Fix those cliff errors and it will be a lot better. My suggestions for future mapping practice for you: -get used to using marble madness if you don't use it already. -use cliff ramps and make several height variances throughout the map. -mess around with the lighting a lot. There are quite a bit of options with the lighting really. -Practice use of light posts -Keep in mind that the blue line represents the visible area of the map and that it needs to be above the white of all the spots on the bottom of the map and inside of the red on all the other sides. To change the place in which the blue line is at go to EDIT -> Map and then where it gives you 4 values in a box edit the last one and make it smaller until the blue line is above the white at the tallest area of the bottom of the map. anyways good job. I hope you fix the cliff errors. If you need help with that then I am sure I or a fellow experienced mapper can lead you through the process of what you need to do. Anyways I hope you keep making maps and keep practicing. I am sure if you do enough you will get quite good. (wow that became a lot longer than originally planned lol)

QUOTE -its a little flat. I think you could have used more small hilly slope areas. Well, many places ARE flat, even in the real world. Look at the netherlands. About the eye candy, I suppose you could have used better detailing. It looks like you kept brush 2x2 on and drew the terrain quickly. This is IMO terribly wrong. Paint the terrain with a 1x1 brush, and don't make chunks of detail. Make smaller pieces and detail realistically. I don't think the same repeated pattern of detailing is good, or that having a detail type surrounding another. Just detail with small pieces, and not chunks and you should be fine for now. Do not make the detail by holding the auto draw buttons in and draw the detail quickly, big and blocky, place them down tile by tile realistically while keeping the blockyness to a minimum.

QUOTE (CrashKing @ Jun 8 2008, 08:23 PM) Well, many places ARE flat, even in the real world. Look at the netherlands. the Netherland map: 200x200, only green lat and one straight street from north to south. But this actually brings me to a quite funny idea. How about a mapping topic in which everyone posts a small map, that is as effectively as possible a model of the area where he/she lives. e.g. I'm from near Berlin and would make a map with a big city, a street going around this city (representing the "Berliner Ring") and lots of rivers and lakes ("Wannsee", "Havel" etc).

QUOTE (CrashKing @ Jun 8 2008, 04:23 PM) Well, many places ARE flat, even in the real world. Look at the netherlands. well yea but he also has cliffs rugged terrain in which you'd think there would at least be some hills then around those. but yea I agree some places are just flat. I like that idea LKO except some places are just hard to make like that due to the lack of graphics in TS. The maps probably wouldn't be very fun then as they would in general be flat with almost no cliff looks. So you may want to add in a special twist of "how would your area look like in the TS era".

Damn, Birmingham would be the hardest place to do due-to lack of civilian buildings and civilian things in general.

Also due to lack of exciting things But having said that I live near the fens which are literally miles of flat land...i'm so glad I don't actually live in the fens and just a city nearbyish.

QUOTE (gaman @ Aug 16 2008, 09:25 AM) Nice map But i have a question cuz i dont know how to upload a map searched evrwhere no seuues. (i thinks its useless to open an new topic for this) Well first off, Welcome to Tiberiumweb! In order to upload your own work be it a map, voxel, shp, or anything else for that matter then you should create your own Forum Topic for it, make sure it is in the right section of course! Then if you look right below the area where you type your post in at there should be something that says Attachments and on the right side there will be a drop down menu that says "Manage Current Attachments" and below that you will see a browse and an upload button. Click browse and another small window will open up to your computer space and that is where you go find whatever you are wishing to upload, in this case a map. Once you have found the file and have clicked Open on the small window the file path should appear in the little space near the browse button. Once that is there then hit upload. The file will take some time to upload but once uploaded it will appear in the "Manage Current Attachments" drop menu. Using that you can place pictures or downloads in various places in your post. However, if you upload and don't place them anywhere then the uploaded files will just appear on the bottom of your post after posting. I hope that answered your question. Also if you have a general question that is not about an individual map then that question is best posted in the Support/Feedback forum if it concerns something like uploading a file or some other forum related thing, as is the case of this question for the question asked does not concern the map in this topic and is rather a general question about how to use a feature of the forum.
