okay so digging around i found this little toy that looks perfect for GDI:

yes no? if so what would it do?

now while were on the topic of aircraft there is more we need to discus:
1. Orcas: here is what I'm thinking in terms of our orcas. on this classes indicate the tech level required for their construction we would have a building with upgrades that allow us to have additional orcas: the catch is you can only have one building and you can only put four upgrades on it. as a basic you get the fighter and bomber, here are the additional orcas arranged by the tech level required to get their upgrades:
level 1
-orca Scout- very lightly armored and armed but capable of flying at speeds similar to that of a hunter seeker. it also carries one very large bomb that is detonated when it crashes armed with a machine gun. its also capable of acting as a spotter for artillery, enabling much longer distance fire.
-orca Sprinter- fast attack fighter, same built as the scout but carries a payload of sonic missiles that are harmless to buildings but will rip tanks to shreds, it carries 6 missiles
level 2
-Orca Light bomber- fast, nimble and well armored but its bombs are fairly weak against vehicles, it will damage buildings decently. carries 4 bombs
-orca light transport- infantry hauler, can carry up to 10 guys or a tank meduim speed medium armor
level 3
-Orca Heavy Bomber- fires powerful bombs that wreck anything in the way, but slow and lightly armored
-orca Heavy transport- a double carryall, carrying up to 10 guys or 2 tanks but weaker armor and slower
level 4
Orca Defender- AA orca, capable of bringing down enemy craft and even stopping hunter seekers same build as the basic orca fighter
Orca striker- carries one freaking huge bomb that will destroy ANYTHING that its dropped on, medium armor but slow

next we have dropships: i was thinking we have a dropship bay where we can call in dropships. we'd have two types:
light dropship: less armor less payload but cheaper and faster
heavy dropship: heavy armor more payload but slower

you can only place up to 3 upgrades on one building at the same time. (but you can have 4 or more different types available)
i have no clue if upgrades work on helipads too. someone should test this.

orca light transport: either infantry or tank. if both (carryall and passengers) is on, infantry is carried outside of the orca.
orca heavy transport: a transporter for 2 tanks isn't possible.

orca defender : afaik player orcas won't target enemys automatically.

dropships: what should they carry? you can't make a transport for tanks (only carryall).
to call in dropships in some kind of Superweapon isn't possible. Only with Map triggers this could be done.

afaik no. campaign dropships are all controlled with map triggers using reinforcement logic. In TS you can't let tanks enter another unit without triggers.

but she wanted them as player controllable units, so you can tell them where they unload. And that is unfortunately not possible.

The RotD landing plane of the airfield is just an production animation. As it is planned now, we use prod-anims for a kind of warp-gate animation for the scrin. (if we still stick with scrin warp technology)
