I think we shouldn't expect too much from the hover logic. It still has some problems with the deploy logic.
Thats why the GDI ship should be a normal aircraft. A deployable vehicle with fly-logic and therefore invulnerablity while flying should only be given to Scrin ships.
And this makes the droppod special weapon a problem and possibly not available.
So in the end it comes close to the Yamato Cruiser in Starcraft. Small laser guns and a big special gun (maybe a modified emp-logic for this).
