yes yes i know i said a big map will be in your future and it still is but i just felt like doing this quick map. and from this point on i must work to finish the SMMC so no progress updates (probably) on the other maps until after i send my map in. (which will be monday night probably) anyways i think this is ready now. give me a lot of comments especially if you played it ingame. and let me know if you find an error.

and the train iv noticed sometimes will have either of these happen...
-the back half stops and eventually starts going again to catch up with the front half
-the train just stops altogether. (usually after the train hits another vehicle and blows a part of the train off)
dont know how to fix that though i tried numerous times.

so anyways...
Map Info:
Name: Liviasc River
Map Maker: Ixith
Map Size: 64X90
Players: 2
Theatre: Temperate
Info: A 2 player map that does NOT require FS. The map features plenty of buildspace and a decent amount of tiberium for the players. It has a river that is in a valley and is cliffed off by water cliffs.

Story: This area is north of the Holixe River region. The Liviasc River and the Holixe River join together on down the way to make a much larger river. The Liviasc River just like Holixe River plays a key roll to getting troops across these areas.

This is my 19th map so enjoy wink1.gif

well a small map like this i can get the detailing down within 4 hours id say. then add on a bit for lighting and triggers. if it werent for the train problem of it blowing up and then me not finding a good lighting this woulda been out earlier in the week.

QUOTE ("OrcaCommander)

dont know about that....although it probably is more released than anyone else here. provided they are mostly maps that are decently small.

anyways thanks for all the good comments. i would like if someone plays it and can give it a review. (i know Aro is going to...or at least said he was going to.

so more comments please.

BTW iv only used since we got the extended deadline to make a better SMMC entry tongue.gif and its extremely close to completion. just have to finish placing a few triggers and then test them and work a lot on lighting probably. and once i know the basics work then ill add fun factor triggers and stuff like that.

I Can't help but wonder why Corsair thinks this is the best map ever... I Think that some of your other maps are better than this one Ixith, but it is still very good none-the-less... I guess it just goes to show everyone has different opinions on 'perfection'.

I would give a detailed rating, but according to what i hear you do not appreciate the ones that i give, so i wont bother.

Anyhow, i downloaded it and did like it, its just ashame the train is a bit screwy.

8/10... Good as usual. wink.gif

no i appreciate any detailed comments and ratings. just youv told me the same thing multiple times now and i find that annoying no offence.

so please by all means give a detailed rating with comments about what you liked and disliked. just dont say stuff that have already been mentioned and what not.

so of course any comments are welcome.
so people start giving me thorough comments preferably from if youv played it.

Well there i was kind of relying on what Aro has told me... I Will give a better and more detailed rating later, i do not have alot of time right now... I appologise if i have been repeating myself, i do tend to do that at my old age... 20... Yeah, i'm old alright. dry.gif

Anyway, i must say, what i mainly liked about this map was the use of triggers and the lighting, the train was a very nice addition, but as i've mentioned above, it was ashame the thing blew up after about 5 minutes of game play.
The lighting was good, i think it has a very nice feeling to it, kind of like a midnight time of day... But, it could just be me, but i think that its too bright in some places... Yeah, i know that, that sounds quite wierd, but its mainly them bridge repair huts, they really stick out.
With detail, i give it a 4/5, how can i not give it a 4/5? Its good, and nothing much more to say, very nice cliff and water work... May i reccomend you do not use water tile 1 too much? In my opinion, that tile is not very realistic (you know what i'm like with realism, so...).
Lighting is a 4/5 atmosphere-wise, as i've said, a little too bright at some places (could just be me) and a little too dark in other places (could also just be me). However, lighting work on the invisible posts is near perfection, very good job.
Now on the fun sale, yeah, it was fun, only the AI (Level 2) was pretty rubbish, not sure why but i only got attacked one by a few infantry units and the base i encountered 10 minutes into game play was... Pathetic to say the least, not that, that is your fault of course. lol.gif
Not much more to say... This is all i can think of at the moment, not alot of faults despite the mangled train and dull AI... Apart from them two minorities, very good work.

Anyhow, i would vote for a spotlight, as the way i see it is 8/10 and above is spotlight worthy, however, i do not wish to support a spotlight as the map is too small...
I will support a spotlight as soon as i see some more 100 x 100 or above maps... O.K?

Right, well i appologise if i repeated myself in there, as i said, i tend to do that at my old age.

BOOM! HEADSHOT!
A nice small map is a lot better than a huge standard map IMO,
9\10 - no detailed rating

SIZE DOESNT MATTER!!!!

SPOTLIGHT! SPOTLIGHT!

So CrashKing, let me ask you a question: If someone was to come out with a 35 x 35 map, very well detailed, but hardly anywhere to fight on and anyplaces to explore, with little or no buildspace, little tiberium ammount, nothing too big to catch the eye, but yet again still very well detailed and maybe a few triggers thrown in, it would be worthy of a spotlight in your opinion? Appologies but that does not sound too sensible to me.

Ok, as promised on MSN, here is my review of the map tongue.gif.

- Lighting : Brilliant as usual, ashame there was no day-night loop trigger, which was unexpected. :(
4/5

-Triggers : As usual, brilliant, the classic truck drop off, one of my personal favourites, and better yet, you added a train smile.gif.
Alough its ashame it didn't work properly which is what dragged the score down.
3/5

-Gameplay : I had alot of fun testing that map, and i will most likely play it again, the AI was surprisingly easy though... Could just be that i'm really good lol.
4/5

-Detail : Not much to say, brilliant as usual.
5/5

-Layout : Everything is used and everything is used well, unit lighting also been reduced which makes it more quality. wink1.gif
Good job.
4/5

Overall score 4.3/5...

And IMO thats spotlight worthy, its ashame is was quite small, but size does not matter when its compared to a map as good as this.
Well done Ixith. biggrin.gif

Spotlight.

It looks pretty lol.gif (although, don't get me wrong, I find it fun to play on too)

I didn't expect anyone to really care what I had to say on this map anyway, considering I really don't venture into this part of the forum much

So from my limited knowledge of maps, it looks great

Maybe I should just stick to making voxels and drawing concepts lol.gif

KICK ASS MAP! @Disturbed: Size doesn't matter ASLONG as other things fit in perfectly. As it does IMO here. Also a 200x200 would have been spotlighted much easier. I KNOW

-Corsair: I appologise, i was unaware of your rare visits to this part of the forum... As i also said above, i guess everyone has their own veiw on 'perfection'. wink1.gif

-CrashKing: I'm afraid, that size does matter... The saying of its quality not quantity (in this case quantity meaning size), i do beleive in myself, however, with mapping it is both Quality and quantity that go towards a spotlight... This is all in my opinion by the way. wink.gif

yes well some people like 2 player maps and it would be pretty pointless to have a 140X140 2 player map.
i do agree the larger maps do have a greater potential to being spotlighted though.

and i will have some larger ones coming out after the SMMC (probably the earliest will be a month afterwards cause it still needs a lot of work and i still need to do a lot of stuff for other people) and trust me the 2nd one i have planned as of now will fit the requirements by far of being big. (2nd as of now but will probably become the 3rd or 4th lol )
and let this not be a discussion on weather size on maps matter to get a spotlight any more ok. this thread is about my map no that.

also every time i had played if the train lasted more than 5 runs of the track it always lasted the entire time. and i havent had it explode on me since i fixed the bridge thing. the only problems iv had with it since then was the back half detaching itself and slowly gaining up to it the front half again and sometimes usually within the first 5 runs it would just stop. ill make sure nothing like that happens on my next map with a train.

oh and there is a day/night loop on the map. the overall lighting though doesnt make it as noticeable i think though i tried to make it have the largest possible thing and be noticeable so the darkest amience is 10 while the lightest is 100 (a difference of 90 duh) but it still wasnt that noticeable. but it is there.

anyways thanks for the comments guys.
oh and whos the one that spotlighted this? (not that it truely matters but id like to know)

anyways any more comments?
