There's no reason whatsoever to play in a lower res than 1024x768. In the days of the old hi-res patches I've played (Hamachi) LAN with hi-res vs people with normal res, and it doesn't cause any incompatibility. Just a bit of an unfair advantage... but seeing as 1024x768 is the standard resolution on C&C95 v1.06, I don't see the problem here.
