Croatia, Act III GDI Options

Ok, so I'm playing through the campaign again from start to finish, and I come upon Act III. Having done an incredible job in Egypt, I was pumped to go in and take down Nod in a flash. However, I cannot seem to be able to get the MCV back to the base, because either the AI puts rocket infantry in the buildings on the route to my base ( A LOT of 'em), or they send a swarm of scorpions/flame/stealth tanks and overwhelm my defences. Or both. I've attempted the mission about 3 times now and no luck, trying many different things. Can anyone help me?

P.S. I'm playing on the normal difficulty

P.S. 2 I remember seeing a thread on this same mission, but a fifteen minute search through the 4 pages of this section yielded no results.
